Hey everyone. Been going since 2006 and this will be the first solo year. Since Thursday's lineup does not really impress me at all, nor do I really want to see anything - I am debating leaving Thursday morning from North Florida (Jacksonville), and am wondering what Camping location looks like if I were to arrive around this time (late Thursday).
Since 2006 I have always left my area at around 10/11pm Wednesday and driven overnight to the front gate line.
My question is - Where exactly will late Thursday put me in terms of camping? What time will I pull through the front gate if I were to leave around 8am EST from Jacksonville, FL?
It's an 8 hour drive, but that is without stopping and gassing up. So probably 9 hours from JAX to Manchester, TN (The Front entrance line). Then who knows how long it will take in line.
I probably should have worded my question as: How long will I be in line if I arrive at around 4PM+ EST? I really don't mind getting in really late and just going to sleep, but what will my campsite area be? and look like?

I figure with the gates opening Wednesday that Thursday traffic is going to be better than normal. We won't be getting into line until 4ish and hope to be in and set up by 8.
I guess it'll depend on what route you take into the venue. From everything I've read on Inforoo people waited from 1-10 hours last year depending on where they were lined up. Obviously if it rains Wednesday or Thursday it'll take longer because of mud. Either way, take a good look at all the options for where you get into line, some seem better than others if you look at google maps.
It's very hard to say for sure where you'll be camped, especially as this is the first year the gates have officially opened on Wednesday. It's really kind of a crapshoot - there are a couple threads on here discussing the best time to arrive, and the only certainty seems to be that arriving too early will land you in BFE. I've heard some stories of people getting in in under an hour and others of people waiting 8+ hours. 3-5 hours seems to be the average, but it really all depends on a bunch of factors (such as the weather) that we won't know until we get there.
I've actually been wondering about this myself, as I have a flight arriving in Chattanooga around 11:30am Thursday; after picking up my rental car and getting beer/snacks/gas, I'm hoping to be in line by 1:30 and have my camp set up by 5-6 (hopefully Futurebirds come up to Boston at some point).

I think the lines won't be too bad thursday evening as most people will have come in wednesday night and early thursday morning/afternoon. i'd say an hour or two wait tops if that.

I am also bummed about missing Futurebirds as well as a few other early Thursday bands. I just keep telling myself, don't worry, you'll get there and eventually and it'll all be good.

I agree that opening the gates earlier should help for the Thursday line, that being said, I have never had less than a 4 hour wait in the line to just get to the campsite in the past 3 years. Last year was horrible; we got in line @ 8am and 12 Hours later entered Centeroo. Good luck!
