What would your explanation be for her to use those words?
Because one of the subheadliners might even have more credibility then the actual headliner (Neil Young or something no one has thought of yet).
I'm also not really sold on The Beach Boys being 4th. And no one in rap is available to fill that spot at the moment either (I'm expecting Drake, LN Which).
I'm thinking something along these lines.
Friday: Wilco > RHCP Which LN: Drake
Saturday: Bon Iver >(Which)Neil Young or Paul Simon > Radiohead Which LN: Phish
Sunday: Beach Boys >(Which) The Shins > Phish and Friends
They also have performed on stage with the Roots. I think we got our SuperJam.
Identify your pronouns. "They" = Justin Vernon, I'm assuming?
He did play with the Roots on Jimmy Fallon last week, I believe. For whatever reason this didn't seem relevant enough to discuss given that there The Wire seasons to rank, feelings to be hurt, racism to be debated and a very heated Thomas Ian Nicholas race to be discussed.
Would definitely be a cool foundation for some kind of Superjam, though, that's for sure. I just want to see ?uestlove drop some heat on the drums. Love that guy.

OK, so there are 2 bands "headlining" (I use that term relatively loosely) both of who's names begin with an 'R', followed by a vowel, followed by a D
Plus, its clearly Radiohead and Rancid. Duh...
I would love a LN Which Phish show but that is unlikely at best, unless it is up against Radiohead. Also Phish and friends is pretty unlikely as well, but I would expect an epic sit in. Probably Brian Wilson, or Neil if he is there.

Man, Radiohead would make me so happy. A pre-headlining set featuring a cassette tape of "Sounds from the Port a Potty" could be playing on a loop from a lone boombox on the stage and that would be okay (don't knock it till you see em).
Off the top of my head, Bela and the Flecktones, Allison Krauss, Bruce Springsteen, Jay Z, Col Bruce, George Clinton, etc... have all sat in for Phish shows along with maybe 40 or 50 others. Here is a incomplete list. To answer your question though, yes they are well respected musicians, and have played with an amazing array of people over the years.
For whatever it is actually worth however, the same person who told me about Phish back in November has also said two nights. It is the same place I heard it from in September 08, though then he said something about a 3d light show so certainly he is not 100% reliable. Also he is not on PT, at least not to my knowledge. That being said the dates over there being floated around certainly all have either two sets, or two shows on them, and breaks that kind of make sense
You and I have a wildly different view of "disparaging remark." I was unaware that "late, great" was a negative description.

Sorry I was still talking about these Karmin people that I just found out about 10 minutes ago. The Roots were in a youtube video with them (Well, ?uest and the old bassist) and then they also played with the Roots during one of their shows.
Ah we have headliners now how about that undercard speculation anybody down for Radiohead into Sigur Ros?
That would be incredible!
I'm really pulling for Bon Iver and Passion Pit on the undercard. Never seen Passion Pit live, but I've heard there's great energy!
The universe has an awesome-ness capacity and all of this, but in particular the RH>SR, would exceed it. But its possible, I guess. SR will have a new album out at some point in 2012, plus they've hinted at a tour. I just can't see Sigur Ros AND Atoms for Peace late night. And I think there's a better change for Atoms given most of their band is on hand.
I know people are getting their hopes up, or in some cases flat out expecting AFP there, but I dunno. Usually when I expect some kind of collaboration or jam, it doesn't happen.
I think a Roots/Vernon jam with some other guests is more likely than AFP.
It is a silly argument to have, but I would think AFP would be the Which stage band in that scenario. For personal preference though I would like them to play a stage where with some camping out I could easily be on the rail.
#1 reason to come back to a forum you get really mad about, throw a hissy fit, and leave: People aren't giving noted jam band 'phish' the respect they deserve

I just saw on Facebook that the Mayhem festival line up is: SLIPKNOT, SLAYER, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, AS I LAY DYING and ASKING ALEXANDRIA, WHITECHAPEL, HIGH ON FIRE
Shows start June 30th. I don't know anything about metal, but maybe some of these bands will make the lineup?

Hah, that's why I asked to identify the 'they', because I was hoping you weren't referring to Karmin. I just can't wrap my head around the fact that they are a cover band that doesn't cover good songs. Nicki Minaj cover? Seriously?
?uestlove can put a beat to anything, literally any song that has ever been created, that's my honest belief. So, sure he could "jam" with Karmin, but I would rather see just about anything on this Earth over some cover band that takes bad songs and makes them worse, or takes good songs (like Adele's "Someone like you") and makes them bad.
Thursday act? Sure, could be fun.
Superjam!? I'd rather be deaf.
