I just saw on Facebook that the Mayhem festival line up is: SLIPKNOT, SLAYER, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, AS I LAY DYING and ASKING ALEXANDRIA, WHITECHAPEL, HIGH ON FIRE
Shows start June 30th. I don't know anything about metal, but maybe some of these bands will make the lineup?
No. But Slayer was a pretty big hit at Fun Fun Fun Fest, maybe someday.
Sorry I was still talking about these Karmin people that I just found out about 10 minutes ago. The Roots were in a youtube video with them (Well, ?uest and the old bassist) and then they also played with the Roots during one of their shows.
Hah, that's why I asked to identify the 'they', because I was hoping you weren't referring to Karmin. I just can't wrap my head around the fact that they are a cover band that doesn't cover good songs. Nicki Minaj cover? Seriously?
?uestlove can put a beat to anything, literally any song that has ever been created, that's my honest belief. So, sure he could "jam" with Karmin, but I would rather see just about anything on this Earth over some cover band that takes bad songs and makes them worse, or takes good songs (like Adele's "Someone like you") and makes them bad.

So, Druid, I'm pretty fucking happy that the winkwinknudgenudge we got at Tupelo's panned out. I'm pretty sure I texted at least 20 different states since I found out.

Attempting to bring this back around to rampant speculation:
In Bonnaroo's favor: MIA is putting out a new single next week. Assuming an album to follow, and assuming a tour off that. She hasn't been booked at any Euro festival's that have announced line-ups so far.
Against: It makes more sense for her to return to touring in Europe rather than the US. Diplo/Major Lazer will probably be there, and the two of them probably have court-orders baring them from being in the same state at this point.
Which side of What is the best side to get in the pit for a headliner? I've only tried the left side and was able to get in relatively easily for both MMJ and Arcade Fire last year. However, I was not able to get in for the Black Keys. Also, I've never not been able to get in for a non-headliner.

think you meant to post this in Rumors and quasi confirmations thead.
in the headliners thread we talk about Radiohead, RHCP, Phish, and The Wire
"use that term 'relatively loosely'" Means something. She didn't say it just to create chaos. Those words have a purpose, and I am having a very hard time agreeing that the reason she said that has something to do with scheduling. Its that simple.
You can look at any year and say "the headliners are..." and fill in the blank. there are no 'loose headliners'. Either they are a headliner, or they are not a headliner. simple arithmetic.
What those words mean, I have no idea... but I will not keep talking about a particular knight due to my conforming with other's opinions.

I'm not arguing any of your other points because you could end up being right....but the "either they are a headliner or they are not" is not something that is simple.
Some will argue that in 2009 Beastie Boys were a headliner and some will disagree.
Some will argue that in 2010 there were 4 headliners and some will disagree
Some will argue that in 2008 Kanye West was a headliner and some will disagree (same for Jack Johnson this year).
Every year there are arguments/debates over what makes someone a headliner.
A bit off topic but is there a thread somewhere on how to get into the pit? We sorta tried last year and had no luck but if the Avett Brothers are there this year I don't care what I have to do, I have to be close.
Well, your female. So there is one thing in your favor. I've found that a flash of boob works quite well. ;D
Now the "paying the bouncer thing" has been discussed and argued to no end. You pay them off, your an elitist heel taking a spot from someone else. You don't, and your a loser staring at your favorite act from the outside.
I personally go down there, on the left hand side. I wait patiently with the other nut cases and discuss my love of the band in question, and get in for a bit of fun. I don't stay all day. Get in, get out and make room for the next person.
For last year, insider didn't just consider Eminem, Arcade Fire and Widespread Panic to be the headliners, she also thought of Buffalo Springfield, the Black Keys and My Morning Jacket as such.
You're thinking Robert Plant, not Buffalo Springfield.

Why in the world would RHCP not be unopposed? Because last time Phish played a late night set the act before them (Beastie Boys) was opposed? How silly. RHCP is a much bigger act, and this is a completely different situation. Just because Phish is most likely playing the same night as them does not change the fact that RHCP will most likely be playing unopposed.

I still have a gut feeling that RHCP will be billed as a special late night appearance on Which.... or RHCP opening for David Edward Grohl, which would even be better. Especially if they follow that up with QOTS LN and the aforementioned Mr Grohl sitting in on the skins.
