Just wanted to express my excitement over actually finding an RV locally (Nashville) to book! Last year we had to go down to Birmingham to pick it up and drop it off which SUCKED so i'm ecstatic right now. RADIOHEAD 2012!!!
Thought i would give my first log in in awhile to tell you noobs that with a lineup with Radiohead, Phish, and RHCP youll prolly see me again. Also i would bet that hip hop headliner is Dre and Snoop. Also Phish gets 2 slots, all hipsters/frat boys can go else where.
I am an idiot, ?uestlove spins at clubs and stuff in the city all the time. I went on a booze cruise last year that he was spinning at and actually hung out and spoke to him for a bit.
I should track him down and just ask him.
If he pops into Brooklyn Bowl on Friday I'll ask him.
Yeah, he's a nice guy, it's definitely worth a shot
I was thinking about it, but my friend is moving to Johannesburg on Saturday, so I'm only going if he wants to. ?uest will be spinning there tomorrow, interestingly enough.

I like how you say this like we care who you are or what you think.
I went to All Good with him in 2008, Drew is good people. I know it is surprising to you that people interact on this board without your approval though so I guess we can let that one slide.

I believe he's sat in with them before too. I've been dying to catch this show but It just hasn't worked out the last two times I was trying. Can't wait to see it finally.
and honestly if you throw out Kings of Garbage in 2010, its still a heavy top 5 to the Flaming Lips (they do draw...)
and this year people are arguing that we are only getting 3 because "its RADIOHEAD, brah. have some respect and don't get greedy"
with 90,000 tickets at 250 each thats 22.5M...before VIP money, corporate sponsorships, before vendor buy ins, before all those TA busses, before a single beer, shirt or poster is bought. Before they collect a single dollar from their website advertising, or the money they make from selling our email addresses to research companies.
None of us are saying there won't be big 4th or 5th billed acts. We're saying stop expecting anyone on the scale of radiohead/rhcp to still be added. We have our top 3.
Yes, there will be acts of MMJ, Primus, Springfield size, but we most likely will not be receiving a 4th 20,000 person arena act.
OK, I can agree, and get on board with this. So who are some likely candidates?
I would love to see MMJ back, and Les is awesome - but what else?
SCI did shows of roughly 5000 people in their last tour (very short tour, only what, like 12 dates? and one of their shows was at Georgia Theater, cap 620)
How about that Jimi Hendrix tribute thing?
NY/CH or just Neil solo?
Allman Brothers?
Are the Moody Blues enough to make the top 6?
Other possibilities?
I would like to take a moment and reflect on the happy death of conversation about VH. May it rest in peace.

I was not aware of this. I might have to put the full-court press on my friend.

Giving them one of the coveted late night slots last year makes me think we won't see them back this year. If so, maybe a day time set?
Doubtful but I'd love it. I also think that Neil (or Neil & CH) is just too big to be anything other than headliner. They headlined in 2003 (i'm pretty sure) so I can't see him being demoted.
I was at both and Mumford certainly felt bigger to me.
Mumford was definitely bigger than that Buffett show. So was the White Stripes in 2007. When I walk thru the back area of the Which Stage field to go over towards This Tent, I always cut across by the bobbleheads, and the crowd was pretty sparse back there. And that was probably halfway thru Buffett's set. And for the record, Buffett playing with his band or some other band like in 2009, would not headline Bonnaroo.

Just looked at Moody Blues, they are playing a couple of concerts in south africa 5/30 and 6/1. This comes after a US tour that is pretty extensive, and they are playing mostly amphitheaters and the like

All the money Bonnaroo gets doesn't just go to artists. There is a lot of upkeep and improvements that are constantly happening to the land that Bonnaroo takes place on. There are tons of staff members and employees for Bonnaroo that need to get paid. There are of course, exorbinant artist fees but there are also fees for the comedians, filmmakers, and artists (not music but phsyical art like painting and sculpture) that need to be taken care of.
We said those other years were top heavy but a lot of the acts listed weren't headliners (and some of the reasons were for personal taste preference not size/popularity of the band). This year it could still be top heavy if we got some other big name acts (Beach Boys) but I really don't think that we should expect another HUGE name that is definitely headliner status.
BLACK SABBATH is still set to play the Download fest June 10th (Sunday).
They could play Roo on Friday and be your "#1 Headliner".
b-b-b-but he has cancer??!!
Yes, still does...and he is still going to work.
They want that chella chedda they missed.
if not, IRONMAN should still be played on the farm by phish.

Well, I'm certainly glad that after not posting here for some 3 years, this supremely "kind" gentleman decided he needed to pop his head in and inform all the "noobs" that he was gracing us with his return and that he doesn't think very much of "hipsters" or "frat boys."
Too bad he ran into our snarky welcome back team first off. Also I was just pointing out that you were incorrect there are certainly several active members that know him.
He was met with snark, sure....but his first post back was kinda snarky too
I guess it is just the difference in knowing someone IRL, I could completely see that remark coming from him snark free.
Probably. I don't know him in person and I took that first post to be kind of snarky/insulting. Pretty much anytime I see someone toss around the word "noob" and "hipster" I view it as potentially being negative.
But I really didn't think there was anything seriously wrong with either posts. Just callin 'em like I see 'em.
