My first Roo 2011 when Arcade Fire played Wake Up and 80,000 people erupted when the first notes hit. I remember thinking there is no where else I'd rather be than right here in this field with all these people.
That night listening to My Morning Jacket and Arcade Fire, tripping for the first time. I saw life a little differently after that.
I have sooo many memories from Roo, but one that is unique was watching the USA vs. England game in the 2010 World Cup. I was with my English friend and we both had capes made from our collective country's flags. That was a rowdy game. Definitely needed a nap afterwards to make it through the night.

My first Roo was 2004. I was 18 years old and had no idea what I was getting into. I had a blast but the killer thunderstorms that came in Saturday afternoon and evening turned the fest into a huge mud pit. By Sunday morning the water was non-potable, and another large storm came in Sunday evening creating even more mud.
After Trey & the fireworks to end the festival, I made my way back to camp which we had already packed up. However there were 8-10 cars blocking our (3 of us) way out, all of which were stuck in the mud. We spent the next hour or so helping each of these cars out of their predicament and getting covered in mud from the waist down. Each time we helped a car out, at least one more person joined our rescue group. The best moment had to have been when a guy wearing a cape (who was out of his mind on something) jumped into the bed of a pickup truck we were extracting and proceeded to order us to push harder. After attempting to get him off the truck for a few seconds, someone in our group yanked him by his cape onto the ground. And we went back to pushing...
I distinctly remember the moment right before departing that first year: at 3 A.M., covered in mud, feeling like I was on the surface of this strange, alien moon that I was kinda sad to be leaving.
