Would love to hear peoples stories about the best experiences at Bonnaroo. I remember in 06 when i nearly had my face singed at the fire art exhibit as it created a mushroom cloud - I stepped back and thought "this is one of the best moments of my life". Not kidding at all, its still one of my favorite experiences of all time. Music aside, anyone else have something like that to share?
Hopefully some stories will help me make it through the next 7 days, because I'm going to chew my arm off in anticipation otherwise!!

Im going to create a memory this year..... marriage proposal!!!! OH..I hope she says yes. It would make for a pretty shitty rest of the weekend if she said no!
Radiohead in 2006. I was like 30 feet from the stage, It was my first Roo and it was all just so amazing and magical. Karma Police came on and 80,000 people were singing "For a moment there, I lost myself!" and something just clicked inside me that this is what heaven must be like
Then Phil Lesh & Friends to close out 2006, it was rainy and miserable weather but I was still having an amazing time about 20 feet from the stage. Nothing else mattered but the music and the good times with my friends.
Pearl Jam in 2008. When they started playing betterman (one of my favorite songs) and 80,000 people had lighters held high, and Eddie just had to stop for a second and say "It's fucking beautiful man"

Great times for certain. This was my #2 Bonnaroo moment. I still get wet eyes thinking about it.
My #1 belongs to MMJ late night in 06. They were on fire that night and then went from It Makes No Difference>Phone Went West>Run Thru .... Second greatest 40 minutes of my life in 38 years.
Phoenix last year. It was my last show for the week, and easily my favorite. The sun set right towards the end as they closed out with 1901 as Thomas Mars ran out into the audience yelling heartfelt thank you's to the whole crowd, like their experience was as amazing as mine. I think he ended up on someone's shoulders as the whole crowd sang the melody to his lyrics.

One of my most vivid Roo memories is wandering around a deserted Centeroo while PJ played Better Man. That was an absolutely surreal moment...
These are great, but I think its backfiring - instead of helping, it's making the wait even worse I cannot waiitttttttt!! All are incredible thou, the Radiohead performance was by far the one that floored me the hardest. I had gone just for them and they blew me away. I can't believe I missed mmj that time though, but so many memories and I only went one year lol

I would have to say the car ride home after my first year in '05. It was the first time that weekend that I was able to just sit and take in everything I had witnessed and experienced over the last 3 days (we got there late Thursday night and I don't recall seeing any bands that night). Thinking back on all the generosity and spirit of the festival I thought that this is what society SHOULD be like and that I would do my best to try to spread that around in my little day-to-day world. It's hard to stick with that mentality by the time August rolls around, but each following year I get another course in how things could be.

My first year was '09... I wanted to go BADLY that year, but I was one year out of the Navy and living in a place where I didn't know too many people. A girl I was casually dating that lived about 7 hours away mentioned over the phone that she thought we should go to Bonnaroo. Immediately I agreed and contacted my friends in TN to let them know we wanted to join their group... Segue to the day before we set out from Baton Rouge. The girl I was casually dating was rushed into the ER with a high fever due to two infected spider bites. Having gotten the infection under control, on antibiotics, and with two gaping wounds in her leg and foot, we left for Roo the next day... That weekend showed me that this girl I was casually dating had completely taken over my heart, and since that trip I've moved to Baton Rouge to be closer to her, we've moved in with each other, and now we will be getting engaged later this year (or as soon as someone agrees to buy my Harley... My Lady needs a ring haha).
Bonnaroo is life-changing!!!!
Kudos and Fridays to Bonnarichert for proposing next weekend!!!

My most memorable moment, to date, was in 2009, I was sitting under a tree, as Elvis Costello & Jenny Lewis finished their set. The next set was Raphael Saadiq. I'd never heard his music, let alone, of him. Once Raphael Saadiq begin to play... I was up & to the stage. I feel in love with Raphael Saadiq at that moment. I got to meet him at Bonnaroo 2009 & have seen him perform 3 times since!
Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers. the ones who see things differently...while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do. -Steve Jobs
This is my first roo. Only other "real" festival I've been to was rothbury in 09' and that was out of this world. I know bonnaroo will be the best thing that has happened to me since rothbury
2010 Flaming Lips + their Dark Side of the Moon. I did not expect to particularly enjoy them, as I'd never seen them before. And I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. But I quite honestly haven't been the same since that show. It's burned into my brain in a big way.
It was the people I was with, new friends, who made it as special as it was. And I maintain that it is the people that make Bonnaroo great, not the music.

ALSO...not LIFE changing just a cool story....lost my cell phone bonnaroo 2010. meh. a few weeks later my mom gets a phone call from my phone. a man cleaning up mud on site found my phone. it was dead. he took it to an at&t store to charge it, scrolled through it to find "mom" called my mom got my info, put it in the mailbox that day. when i got it there was a post-it note on my phone saying "hope you had fun at the roo"
how AMAZING is that? the people of roo and things like this are why bonnaroo has changed my life. true just GOOD.
Meeting my friend molly for the first time during Jay-Z's set. Making out with the girl next to me, fireworks exploding all around us, and HOVA belting out the chorus to Young Forever was a defining moment in my life.
