First off, thanks to everyone on this board for your info. I am sure I will owe many of you my life and a beer, whichever comes first.
A couple of friends and I are driving up from Dallas for our first time.
How much time do you normally spend back at camp. We are planning on bringing a tent and a canopy but were just wondering how much time the average person spends back at camp.
Are you allowed to bring canopies into Centeroo?
Also, any other universal advice is always welcome. We plan on seeing as much music and doing as much partying as possible.
i'm usually at camp only from about 2-5 AM (or when I get back and go to sleep) until about 11 AM every day. in the past i know some of my neighbors have stayed at camp until 2, 3 or even 5.
depends on what you want to do and if you're close. some people go back and either rest of drink up before the headliner/LN sets. i usually like to stay in centeroo all day.
also take it easy on the partying until the sun goes down. it's a long weekend.
It really depends on you & your friends how much time you spend at camp. Most days bands start playing around noon and their is music going until 4am or later so you could actually spend very little time at camp. On the other hand, you need to rest, hydrate and possibly just chill a bit. Other factors like the heat might keep you in camp until later in the day. Some of the best advice Ive seen is "Do not over do the partying too early" Its a long weekend and you dont want to miss anything because you over did the partying right off the bat. To borrow a saying from others on here, "its a marathon not a sprint" So pace yourself. No canopies allowed in centeroo. ...and don't feed the wooks. It diminishes their ability to forage and fend for themselves in the wild. Also, they will move in with you.
... and if you smell a wook nearby (you will), hide all corn and beer, as its presence causes them to stumble in and mumble incoherently about Ghandi and/or Phish bootlegs for 10 hours+... unless you present them with soap and a razor.
You won't spend as much time as you think in camp, but it's completely dependant on the person's ability to stand the direct Tennessee sun/heat.

Thanks for the advice. I just wasn't sure if coming and going from camp was the norm or even feasible (not sure how long a walk it would be, etc.)
I grew up in Texas and Oklahoma, so I am sure I will be able to handle the heat, but I will def. heed everyone's advice on hydration, pacing, etc. No way I want to miss the late night sets.
And I will have a No Feeding Wooks rule for my camp. I fed a wook at Monolith once. Big mistake.

Wook bashing... my favorite pre-bonnaroo leisure reading Bonnaroo is slightly like the zoo, enjoyable until you get hurt feeding the animals. Just don't do it.
Depends on when the music starts for you. Look at the schedule and figure out who the first artists you want to see are. The time between when you wake up and the first concerts start is the only time you'll really spend at camp. The less time you can spend under the sun and on your feet the better. I always return to camp once or twice throughout the day to re-up on sunscreen, eat, get glow sticks and party favors for latenight, etc. But the visits to camp don't last long.
It really depends on the schedule each day. Sometimes I want to see some earlier shows and then go back to camp for a bit, then back for the evening shows. Sometimes I'm not terribly interested in anything during the day so I chill and nap as much as possible to be able to stay up till dawn. Generally I find that I always want a nap around sundown and the urge overtakes me even if there's a must-see band.
And then Sunday I always end up going in earlier than any other day and staying in Centeroo all day long.

This is the wook from Monolith. He begged me to give him some whiskey. He wanted to drink straight from the bottle. I disagreed. I then watched him drink from a makeshift funnel made from a piece of paper.
He had a whole traveling group. Their car had a wooden bumper.
Yes, Monolith was weird, but they were some damn good bands there. Nothing like Flaming Lips at Red Rocks

Flaming Lips! I still remember Wayne Coyne's story of how the UFO couldn't make the trip because Homeland Security wouldn't let them get their light bulbs out of customs because they were coming from Russia.
