Hey,
I was just wondering what the mud situation is anticipated to be like this year and what roads going into the camp site are like. How much is paved? Gravel? Straight dirt/mud? How far do people typically how to drive off-road to get to a camp site?
And how would the ground deal with mud if it rains? Have people had significant trouble with mud in recent years? Anyone needing to get towed? What kind of cars have had the worst trouble?
I'm a newbie this year and trying to figure out which car I'm going in or bringing. I'd love to bring my own car and avoid a sketchy interstate ride in a really archaic and not-that-safe SUV that seems like it's about to fall apart, but the car I have available to me is a 2005 Prius. The Prius has front-wheel drive but is pretty low to the ground and obviously not really designed for off-road use. Am I asking for trouble if I bring the Prius, or would it be workable? Has anyone seen or brought Priuses to Bonnaroo? Beside the off-road element, bringing the Prius is extremely attractive to me.
Thanks so much! This is stressing me out, and I'd really appreciate some guidance.
I definitely saw a Prius or two last year, and I most definitely saw mud, as early as Thursday morning ticket check-in. I saw people getting stuck for a minute or two, but it wasn't anything that required towing - just a good shove. Bring the Prius, and you'll be no worse off than anyone in a Civic or other small car.
Ill be driving a 08 Jetta have no other choice. I am guessing mud isn't anything to worry about just because the amount of cars that will be there. If it is an issue im sure you wont be the only one with an issue.
I drove my 05 Prius through the clusterfuck mud bowl in BFE Wed night last year. It got stuck right in the middle of that mess. Luckily, the parking crew were easily able to push it out and guide it to the parking spot. I packed up and camped at tent only, worried that I was never going to get it out of that field. Luckily, by Monday it had dried up and I drove out with no problems.
there was mud last year and everyone made it ok. if you get stuck someone will help you get out. i didnt have any problems last year with the mud and i have a small car as well. looks like we wont have mud this year if that makes you feel any better. its hotter than blazes here
