So I decided it was time to partake in the dollar grilled cheese yesterday. I also thought it would be nice to get a couple extra for my 'Roo-mates. "3 grilled cheese please." "That will be 4 dollars." Huh? How's that work? Well I asked and the person behind the counter went on and on attempting an explanation. Since it was only a buck, and it is Roo I paid and left peacefully.

I had a guy come to my campsite and was complaining that the horse security tried to take away his grilled cheese supplies and that he wanted to sell 1 dollar grilled cheese. He stored his provolone and bread basil in my cooler and came and got it at 5 in the am. He was a strange dude
Haha whaaaat? Seriously? How are you complaining about sandwiches that cost less to nothing at a place where everything is double the normal price?
Those grilled cheeses were awesome and saved me a lot of money.
Oh, settle down. Not complaining, just thought it was odd and was typing with a smile on my face. Well worth the $1, or in my case $1.33. Just didn't get the reasoning, that's all. I guess I should have followed Internet Bulletin Board protocol and posted something like this: or or

Does anyone know what kind of cheese is in them? My husband tried to duplicate them when we got home since the taste was still fresh in our minds but he can't quite get it. Close but I'm thinking it's a different cheese...
I had the same moment of confusion and sadness on my way back to camp after WSP on Sunday. I ordered three, and when she said $4 I almost cried. I was so tired and messed up I was almost delirious, but I gave her the money and went on my way, my mood quickly improving after the first bite. Later I was told about the "tax". Now I know!

I mean...uh...? This is like people dying over a $5 taxi ride from Centeroo to POD 11. It's a lifesaver. And it's cheaper than it could be. By a longshot. Those sandwiches are so much cheaper than most of the meals you find in Centeroo. Even after being to Roo before, I made the mistake of buying a "breakfast sandwich" for $5. Worst idea ever. Hit me with a ton of those grilled cheese sandwiches anyday.

Whoa now. That's a totally seperate issue than $4 fer three grilled cheeses. Havin' now camped in three very different areas in five years lemme tell yah, Pod 11 can suck it. I did 007 the last two years and would have killed fer that spot. $5 ain't much per person, but that can add up quick over the weekend. Pod 11 and others of similar distance from Centeroo should get some kinda coupon fer at least two free rides durin' the weekend. Don't have to use 'em if you don't want to. And as it is you'll have to manage to catch a damn taxi to begin with.

tr00. I spent quite a bit on taxi rides this year. So much, in fact, that I had to settle for $1 grilled cheeses instead of the lovelier options. Haha. Having to walk for an hour to get to Centeroo is full of fail. =P
After we got them the first time on our 2nd stop my husband watched him make them (he loves to cook and wanted to try to make them when we got home) and he said he had melted butter in a spray bottle and sprayed the grill - not the bread, put one piece of bread down, the cheese, sprinkled garlic salt on the cheese, then put the other piece of bread on and that was it.

we had a few $1 grilled cheeses from bearly edible - delicious!
the guys from the camp next to us recounted a story in which they spent their last 5 bucks late night saturday on grilled cheese and then had no money for a taxi. said it took them 2.5 hrs to get back to our camp because they were so messed up/delirious. said it was worth it though!

I think I had a $10 grilled cheese from the food truck. And it was nowhere near as good as the $1 grilled cheese. I've been hit with the tax a few times and stopped trying to figure it out. The cheapest and best grilled cheese in the planet
