They told us they would look into having more "activities" since they now own the land. Hopefully, they start doing a smaller festival in mid-October or something.
The heat is unpredictable. Having more shade options is not. Bonnaroo organizers... MAKE MORE SHADE!!! It cannot be terribly expensive to add more shade options throughout the festival.
I would love to go to Bonnaroo during a spring break week in March. No extreme heat...lots of college age people...and for the other folks...what's a couple of days off from work going to matter? No likely chance of tornados... No heat-related deaths.... This is the perfect month for a music festival.
Give me several good reasons why June is better than March?

This was my first roo and I had no problems with the heat. I'm from Indianapolis so its definitely hotter on the farm. I won't even have changed anything about the temperature actually. I think its one of the things that makes Bonnaroo what it is. It binds everyone together, it makes everyone get half naked (or in some cases completely naked), and it makes roo more of a community. Plus, its so perfect at night that you can cool off.
March weather in Tennessee is a huge crap shoot. We can literally have a 77 degree day followed by a 40 degree day. I can remember it being in the 60's and playing in the snow from the day before.
High school kids would no longer be able to come if it was moved to a cooler month, and a bunch of college kids would miss out.
This...high school kids aren't even really a noticeable demographic IMO. It's the college kids, which are probably a good 1/3 or more of the people there, that would suffer (and lose Roo lots of $$$$$$). The heat wasn't bad this year, anyway, especially compared to 2010. I had some of those tent fans running (the kind that run on D batteries) on me all night and managed to sleep until anywhere from 10AM to noon with no trouble at all.

Ummmm, you don't live in Tennessee obviously. It does snow in March on occasion. You get crazy temperature swings that can go 60's one day, and 30's the next with wind. And it rains alot more frequently. There is a reason you've never heard anybody say they are going to party in TN for spring break. Even if you did schedule it during SB, every college has a different week, so that would never work out.
If you thought it was too hot this year, you obviously weren't there last year. I'd take this years weather over that any day
Also, if you need another good reason. How about having better options when booking bands? Many bands don't start touring until the summer
Did go last year and I do live close to Tennessee...If it got into the 30s during bonnaroo, I'd have no trouble staying warm...if it gets close to the 100s....I have a lot of trouble staying cool..so take it for what it's worth but our bodies do better with cooler temperatures.
So March...just not gonna happen.... what about April? Many college students would skip a thursday and friday to party.
LOL at this whole thread, get over it or stay home people, Bonnaroo is always going to be help a week after college ends. 100,000 people a year figure out how to deal with it, I am sure all of you guys can sort it out as well.

You must go to a late college. Regional colleges let out the first or second week of May last I checked. Perhaps you meant after high school lets out?
Bonnaroo is where it is because it wanted to be the first big summer fest. You can go blame AC entertainment for the location (which honestly is pretty boneheaded to begin with).
Just two weeks earlier, I think would make a BIG difference in the amount of heat and humidity that people would have to deal with.
This would probably not work due to tornado season and extreme thunderstorms... I would prefer to not experience 1" hail at roo. I would love something in late August/September though so many other fests run close to that time.
However, I personally like how the harsh weather conditions brings a hardcore and dedicated group of music lovers. Everyone who makes it through this festival deserves some serious credit for what they put up with weather-wise.

Yeah Jess, what kind of back-a$$ college do you go to? I mean, this guy OBVIOUSLY knows much more about that than you so perhaps you shouldn't say anything else. Must be his college education that makes him so smart.
