The Throne, aka Jay-Z and Kanye West, have rescheduled their tour. The outing, originally slated to begin Sept. 22 at Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, will now begin Oct. 29 in Philips Arena.
Live Nation originally announced the tour last Monday, July 25. Then on Thursday, Live Nation sent out a missive saying that more dates would be added to the tour “due to overwhelming demand.” We’re not sure how there can be proof of “overwhelming demand” before tickets go on sale, but we’ll leave that to wiser minds than ours.
Now, instead of getting more dates, it looks like we’re just getting a delay, according to Pitchfork. The album, “Watch The Throne,” is also mired in a bit of controversy, as independent retailers are up in arms over the fact that iTunes gets the album exclusively for four days starting Aug. 8, before it goes to physical retail. To add insult to injury, Best Buy has an exclusive on a deluxe version of the album.
Here is the new schedule, as we know it, with the deleted dates crossed through. We’re trying to find out more from Live Nation and will update when we hear back from them. The pre-sale started today, with tickets to the general public on sale starting Aug. 8.
And as far as the "feud" between West and Jay-Z as reported by the New York Post, Jay-Z stopped by New York's Hot 97 yesterday to dispel the rumor. "Kanye is my brother. Yes, we get on eachother's nerves, but that's what happens when we push each other," Hova said, according to Global Grind. Furthermore, he adds, "I would never put my hand on Kanye. I have way too much respect for that man to do something like that. No way. Not even close."
I guess because this is gonna be a pretty big seller of an album independent stores are up in arms? This isn't the first time that iTunes released an album before physical retail, and it certainly isn't the first time Best Buy is gettin' to release a record with bonus songs. Don't get me wrong, I understand their frustration to a degree. But to complain now? And that comment from Amazon? Hell, they get bonus tracks too fer digital only downloads, like iTunes. Where do they get off? I hate exclusive bonus stuff anyway, at least when it is only available through one retailer. Bonuses included in a pre-order I'm generally okay with. So long as it's not only available through digital outlets. That shit pisses me off to no end.

I like it, but I don't know yet if I would put it in the "classic" category. Some songs are definitely better than others. Frank Ocean shines. Jay sounds really comfortable on about every song. Kanye sounds really good sometimes and just ok at other times. A couple of the beats are just alright in the sense that I don't think the vocals necessarily fit the beat very well, but overall its a well produced album. I was kinda surprised Kanye only did one or two beats on here, although he is listed as a co-producer on almost all of them you can tell thats more or less a formality.
I need a couple most listens before I make a final verdict, but for now I would say there are 3 or 4 songs that stand well above the rest. Overall its a really good album. Its not necessarily what I expected, but I don't mean that in a bad way.
I like this album a lot. The album sounds a lot like the album title, when I hear it I picture Jay and Kanye performing in the Colosseum. Listening to this album really made think again how far ahead these 2 are in hip hop compared to everyone else IMO. I am all for them performing this at Roo. Hopefully on Friday just because the lineup would be stacked if they were Friday HL but would love if they were at the top of the bill which they will be if this happens, just being wishful for Friday.

This album is amazing. The last two tracks are so good, the beat on that last track is insane... I have two questions..
1) Did the Rza produce the whole album?
2) Is that song that they play at the end of a couple songs Grizzly Bear? I can't think of what song it is but it sounds like a studio version of one of their older songs.. and I know Jay-Z and Beyonce have been to a couple Grizzly Bear shows so it really wouldn't suprise me...
