It is sad to come on these boards a few days after an 18 hour drive to one of the best weekends of my life. Prior to roo all of the inforoosters seemed excited, optimistic and helpful leading up to the days on the farm. All of you seemed exactly like the people I met over this past weekend. After coming on here, it has almost made me never want to log back on or meet many of you. The negativity is sickening on here! Just because YOU had a bad time or a DIFFERENT experience than someone else or than your last roo, it doesnt mean that you should pollute these boards with your non-sense. So with that being said, why dont those of you who dont have anything good to say either a) try to find the positivity in your latest roo experience b)SAY NOTHING AT ALL (just like our mothers told us) c) go fly a kite.........and if you cant do any of the above then maybe you need to ask yourself "If Roo is for You?"
PS. I had a fantastic time this weekend and might have crossed paths with a few of you. If so, THANK YOU!!!!
This happens every year right after the fest. Pay attention to the people complaining. Most of them have less than 10 posts. This will die down soon and until next year will be nothing but Roo excitement.
Actually - I have way more than 10 posts and I have quite a few complaints about this year's Roo - but there is not much point complaining about it here - I'll do it via letter and email to Ashley Capps and AC Entertainment and any other people I can find that can fix the situations and problems I had - two of which were encounters with medics - one for a woman that 20 yards from the medic tent when she collapsed yet they would not leave the tent to get her and the other from Boz taking my BFF for treatment and getting treated like shit

There's always plenty to complain about- it's some pretty rough conditions.
But its the best time anyone will ever have in the worst conditions.
And, if you look deeper, there's PLENTY of positivity on here. I've actually been getting insanely jealous reading all the great stories and hearing about all the fun everyone had.

Trust me....the complaints are only an attempt to improve the festie...not a negative reaction to it! If we did not LOVE it we would not support it year after year. But seriously...after ten years of putting on one of the biggest, most advertised world-wide music fests there are a few things you SHOULD have down pat....I work in Logistics so I understand what it takes. It is NOT easy but if you are promising people the experience of a lifetime you HAVE to at least attempt to get it to them. And honestly logistics is NOT rocket science.....I have worked in both!
All logistics is is planning...from best case to worst case and having a plan for ALL of it. I think the organizers were a bit optimistic and didn't plan for worst case which is a fatal flaw in ANY logistical endeavor. They were more worried about putting on a great 10th Anniversary Show for the media than attending to the needs of their customers and that is a fatal mistake. Not saying it was ALL bad...just that in past years and hopfully coming years they will focus more on their attendees than the corporate and media attention
It was my first bonnaroo and I was parked all the way in the back of pod 11, I had my wallet stolen on sunday, got separated from my friends for 3 hours during my comedown with no way to reach them on sunday night, watched two of our friends get in such a huge fight that one ended up leaving the other without a ride ANNNNDD had the best fucking time of my life. I can't wait to go back, seriously. Despite a bunch of crap happening that was less than ideal, the positive experiences outweigh the negatives 100 to 1. I am already counting down the days until next year, I can't wait to see all of you beautiful people again =D
Some of them are just whiney bitchef, but some are just frustrated that they waited all year for this fest that they love and then had a bad time. I couldn't even imagine the feeling after ACTUALLY having a bad Bonnaroo (not just wah the lines are too long) because it would just be such a letdown.
I remember Thursday night my friend, a first time rooer, was put off by the large number of sponsors and huge lines and stuff. It seemed like he wasn't gonna have a good time. Cut to Friday night watching MMJ, he turned to me and yelled, " this might be the happiest I've ever been in my entire life"
Yeah. Airing of grievances, basically. Not that some aren't totally legitimate, but 98% of the post fest complaints are either redundant or terribly anecdotal.
Guys, this isn't a cult. Yes, the sense of community Bonnaroo typically provides is great but there is no rule saying we can't have a cross opinion of something there. At the end of the day, I left my family for 4 days and spent close to $1,000 (others spent more). Because of this I have every right to offer up suggestions on how I think the festival can improve. Hell, that's how things at the festival do improve is by consumer feedback.
In a nutshell, don't hang that nonsense on me or anybody else because we don't always drink the kool-aid.

People have the right to voice their concerns, and suggest ways to improve the festival. I have no problem with that. There is plenty to improve upon for sure.
My problem is with the people saying their trip was ruined by this or that, or that they'll never attend another Bonnaroo. I just want to scream at them. If you had a bad time at Bonnaroo, there is something wrong with you, not with Bonnaroo! You either need to change your attitude, or the people you go with, or something. If long lines to the porta-potty was gonna ruin my weekend, I would wear a diaper and party all night. If the heat was truly unbearable, I'd get a hotel and just go for the afternoon/evening shows.
If you think getting 130 bands and 80,000 people together isn't gonna have some setbacks, then you are delusional. I for one can't wait to "tough it out" again next year
^^^Meh - my Bonnaroo wasn't ruined by "this or that" and while I won't say "never" I will say not next year and maybe not the year after that.
We did Hangout last year and had a blast - there were problems there also as I am sure there are at any fest, however, the problems I encountered at 'roo this year - were simple logistical problems that AC Entertainment has known about for several years and can't seem to get a grip on.
The issues I had with the medics were uncalled for given the amount of people that ultimately required medical attention during Bonnaroo - the last thing someone needing help needs is a cocky attitude from the very people they go to for help.
So Hangout 2012 and Glastonbury 2013??? That is my plan! Let's make it work!!
Actually - we have started saving for Waka VIP 2012
When we looked at it - read the forums - read up on what is provided and the feedback on the VIP section and where it is located - add in only about 30-40 people - yeah - sounds good to us.
The line up at Waka this year was more appealing to us but we had promised Jessica Bonnaroo and there was no talking her out of it but next year...I'm fairly certain it is Waka for us.
