Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
and...pick a designated handler if there is a chance of a trip to the moon or beyond.
Seriously, I am happy to be that person for anyone that may need it.
Same here, JHo! As a former rave kid, and a person with a for-real-no-dwords-allowed-behavioral-based-safety job - I am happy to babysit when asked I know what it's like, what one is feeling, the colors one is seeing, what you need to not wig out, and how to moderate some good hydration.
If you choose to partake after educating yourself about your choice - JUST LIKE DRINKING BOOZE and CHOOSING A DD - choose a designated friend who will not leave you, will keep an eye on you, and will lovingly corral you when needed. I think it was said in the second post of this thread - Your friends will take care of you because they love you!!!

I'll be at an event with the Bunk Police tomorrow. I'll ask them about Roo. They don't usually advertise where they will be from the sake of the festivals and their reputation. I do know that if they are at an event, they hang 3 black balloons at the main gate, and maps to their camp are attached. They also sell kits on their website so you can test stuff on the go and for yourself!
I just wanted to contribute: Last year was my 5th year and I drank a moderate amount of alcohol and it almost killed me from heat stroke. I realized I had an issue when it was the middle of the afternoon and I thought it was 'not that hot in a porta-jon' . Even legal stuff can put you on your ass in this environment.
It can be hard to tell the difference between 'I'm hot because its 103 degrees' and 'I'm about to pass out and not wake up because its 103 and I'm severely dehydrated'.
My tip: Roo is hot as hell all day. If you ever think it is NOT hot, then your core temperature is way too high and you might want to reassess your hydration/shade.

Same for me athensroo. 5th year, and 3 beers in the morning would knock me on my aaaaaass. On day two, stopped all alcohol consumption until after the sun went down. Pay attention to your bodies and make adjustments.

Thankfully, I just don't have any desire to drink in all that heat. It just makes me more miserable than I already am. (How is it possible to be so physically miserable yet so happy?)
I might nibble on a little corn if someone offers it, but that's about it for me. I'm glad this conversation was bumped. I agree it needs to be talked about in a non-judgmental way.

Same here...happened about 8 pm Thursday, at the ferris wheel, all of a sudden I went dizzy and started to fall. I made it to one of the picnic tables and laid down......actually thought I was going to die. Laid there for about 30 minutes and cooled off enough to make it to water and then back to camp.
Be careful out there...
Happy roo (happier if I had my shipping email....argh)
PS: Up all night Wed in line, set up camp Thur morning, drank spiced beer all day.....heat was too much under those circumstances. Luckily, the rest of roo went great...
My third 'Roo in 2009 I actually fainted durin' White Rabbits. I'm not sure what exactly caused it, but I remember tellin' my buddies I needed to get out of the crowd. Next thing I recall my vision is almost whited out and I'm bein' dragged out by some kind soul (turned out to be one of my friends but I was so outta it I had no idea at the time). Got some frozen lemonade in me and chilled out fer some 15 minutes and was good to go. Needless to say since then I've cooled down on my 'Rooin' just to be on the safe side.
Guys, if you feel like you need help, PLEASE ask for help! (from a friend, stranger, employee..) Don't try to manage it on your own. There is roo staff all around who can call for medical help on their walkie talkies.
