This is a newer festival, I think this is only it's 3rd year, but it's a really cool fest and an amazing value. It's a smaller size festival, but definately worth checking out.
It's August 5-7 in Johnstown, Pa. about 65 miles east of Pittsburgh. A basic three day pass is only $30. That's a great deal, especially considering that Gregg Allman is playing this year, along with Black Joe Lewis, Tab Beniot, Pimps of Joytime, Sweet Earth, along with about 20 other bands.
It's not a camping fest, but hotels in the area are super afordable, including several that are within walking distance.

This one's actually been around for 10 or 15 years now. I only know because I'm from Johnstown. And for the last few years, it was actually free. It is a great little festival though. Very laid back and a great chance to check out some good music. The venue itself is pretty damn small, but there's plenty of other things to see and do right around and in the city.
This festival is in fact in its 3rd year as a pure music festival. The same organization that produces it, also used to produce the Folk Festival that is no longer in existence. Great city to come and take over for an intimate music festival atmosphere and a great value with weekend passes starting at only $30. Last three years have included the likes of Derek Trucks Band, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Ruthie Foster, Los Lobos, Anders Osbourne, Galactic and Robert Cray to name a few. Camping is not on-site but readily available within a couple of miles of the festival grounds.
will be checking this out now...well Saturday at least. Sunday were heading back to Pittsburgh to see Grace Potter playing a free show at Hartwood Acres
For anyone in Pittsburgh not heading up to Johnstown until Saturday, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears are playing a free show at South Park Ampitheater.
Wanted to pimp this festival again, it's coming up next weekend, check out the full lineup at www.floodcitymusic.com. Sure to be a great time! Hope to see you there.
