I have never been on the Ferris Wheel when they only allowed two people on, it was always three or four. I am sure if the line wasn't too long they would allow two though. Otherwise a romantic encounter on the ferris wheel might be kinda awkward...unless you're into that kind of thing.
But getting back on topic A list of must haves,
5 things I ALWAYS bring to roo: 1) EZ-UP 2)Camelbak 3)Camera 4) Juice 5)First Aid stuffs
5 things I am going to try to bring to next roo: 1) Flag, got one made just never used it 2)More Solar lights, they were awesome around the campsite 3)Leap pad cooling bandana/towel thing. Supposedly they stay cool when you get them wet. 4)Tent fan, never used one but might be worth it 5) Air mattress, also never used one at roo but I've been at it long enough to start thinking about ultimate comfort.
1. EZ-Up 2. Cooler with frozen water bottles 3. Comfortable shoes/sandals 4. Beer 5. Common Partying Sense (Don't overdo it too early in the day or you'll miss the amazing late nights and don't overdo it at the late nights or you'll feel like crap in the heat of the following day. I try to find a nice balance, but that's easier said than done. I've ended up going to hard at night and missing a ton of good shows the next day...)
I took the kids on it in 09. That was enough for me. When I was younger I had a ride at an amusement park break down on me and so when I'm on a ride that creeks it makes me sad.
1. Headlamp. MUST have at night. 2. Camelbak (!!!!!) 3. straw cowboy hat and sunglasses 4. Ziplocks with folded TP, Clorox wipe singles for the biff seats and feminine wipe singles. These "kits" were ah-mazing. I brought at least 20 and passed out a bunch to veryyy appreciative strangers. 5. Mister
Things I will do for this year:
1. Another EZ to cover the tent 2. Maybe a 3L bladder for my Camelbak instead of the 2L. I almost passed out waiting to refill that a few times. 3. Cot instead of the damn air mattress 4. Shower Tent. I had a hose for the sinks, but that water is just too damn cold. And it was a major PITA to wash my hair. Not to mention walking your clean feet through the deep disgusting mud pit to get away from the sinks. 5. An insane mister. My little handheld one was not enough. I want one of those big ass ones.
Edit: Also, I will take a LOT more pictures/videos of PEOPLE. Everyone has the same pics of all the artists, but I hardly have any of the crowds, random strangers who became instant friends, crazy random moments, etc.
1. Frozen water bottles in our 5 day cooler. We would take several into centeroo each trip and by the time we'd get there they'd be almost thawed. Perfect drinking water. Then we'd use them to refill while in centeroo. 2. Mister/fan. I wouldn't have survived the heat/sun without it. Not to mention a lot of strangers were so thankful when I sprayed them. 3. Shade/Tarps etc. at camp 4. Headlamp is very helpful at night. 5.Good shoes. I have issues with my feet. They are delicate! lol The first roo I had blisters on my feet for weeks. Now I have a method. I wear lightweight sneakers for the walk in and take flipflops to enjoy in centeroo. 5. A comfortable bag for carrying things to and fro.
Upgrade possibilities for this year. 1. Cots instead of air mattresses. 2. Solar charger. 3. Solar Shower
The air mattress was fine for me except during the day. I know you get sweaty just because the heat but you kinda stick to the air mattress. I'm guessing because the cot is elevated you have a little more air flow.
Larger brimmed hat Making a point to continually hydrate Some sort of bandana to block out dust (if it's another dry year) Shade canopy for camp (I'll have to find a way to pack this in my checked luggage)
1-1-12 Bassnectar NYE SHOW! 1-21-12 G. Love and Special Sauce 3-1-12 Radiohead 3-9-12 Experience Hendrix 5-15-12 Jack White @ The Ryman 6-7-12 Bonnaroo 6-19-12 Roger Waters presents "THE WALL" 7-7-12 Ringo Starr's 72nd Birthday Party Extravaganza at the Ryman
1. WATER 2. Good Shoes (I'm hearing a lot of praise for Toms) 3. SUNSCREEN 4. Big floppy hat & sunnies (hey, they count as one thing bc they're fashionable sun protection!) 5. Camera (because memories are valuable!)
what didn't work about the air mattress? i've heard lots of accolades on here so im curious as to why the cot might be a better option.
Having to re-inflate the damned thing in the wee hours when you're too tired/wasted to function = PITA. A cot padded with a sleeping bag eliminates that issue.
Regular-sized mattresses deflate much faster than the ginormous double-height (16.5"!) queen mattress I used last year. I added air MAYBE once in 5 days? Got it on sale @ Dick's Sporting Goods for <$50. I won't do 'Roo without it now.
I picked up this "air mattress" at Wal-Mart for $3 and never had to re-inflate it once, and im a big guy. Threw a twin size sheet over it and it was perfect.

We had the same problem with our air mattress last year. It was comfy until it started to leak. Got two Titan XL cots for this year; hoping they work out better.
First off, can you ever really have enough beer?? Worst case you have some extra...
Top5 Camelbak - add some ice and it helps to cool you for awhile too! Sunscreen/bandanas/umbrella - I burn like no other and it ruins my experience if it happens early in the weekend EZup - first year I went we had nothing it was miserable, 2nd year we brought a blue tarp, slightly better but still sucked, 3rd year we got an EZup and it made such a huge difference Great friends - the crew you bring makes all the difference, each year the faces change a bit but we always bring a laid back fun group. Stay Hydrated - Fell behind 2 years ago, started to puke and felt miserable for a half a day. Just drink water/gatorade like it's my religion
3/19 Portugal the Man 3/31 Japandroids 4/3 Alberta Cross/BRMC 5/1 White Rabbits 5/7 OK GO 5/14 Mumford and Sons 6/2 The National 6/10-13 Roo 8/21 MMJ and Tom Petty

Exactly. I brought a pump that plugged into my car, so I had to drag it out of the tent to fill it up. Plus I'd get back to camp around sunrise, so most of the time everyone around me was asleep and I didn't want to turn it on and wake them up. So even if I had brought a battery powered pump, I wouldn't have used it. I ended up sleeping on a floppy air mattress. Not so comfy. I'm hoping a cot will work better for me.
1. Sleeping Pad 2. Less Corn 3. More Rags (for wiping off dust from ankles and avoiding Bonnarash) 4. More salty snacks (avoid overhydration and cramping) 5. Easier to drink Beer (I love my Magic Hat No.9, but not in 35+ degree weather)
Things I'm happy I brought: 1. Nose Zinc (I don't usually burn, but paired with my lifeguard trunks, I was a hit at the fountain) 2. Kiddie Pool (for soaking the feet at the end of the day) 3. Dry Shampoo (too bad i smelled so bad after Roo; my 90's seattle grunge scene hair looked way cool) 4. lots of towels 5. Light wool flannel (instead of a sweatshirt at LN was perfect)

The flannel is a great idea! That would be so much easier to pack around than a sweatshirt. This made me realize that I no longer own any flannel at all. (My closet was pure grunge in the 90s) I must rectify this situation as soon as possible.

I think I could have won the Grunge award for Saturday LN, with cutoffs, a flannel, overly dirty hair, and being pissed off at the fratstars behind me at Gogol who wouldn't shut up.

Did you see the vid Roo put up that had the pimped out tent set up with the baby pool filled with leftover water from the coolers? They took lemon peels and salt and put it in there too. It looked divine!

Was that one of the ones with the Gary Cutout? All this Ask Gary stuff started to really piss me off.
He was always that good guy with the clue tweets. And then it went off the rails. Now he seems like a dick.
