Last year I took several gallon jugs of water to use for bathing, etc. I will certainly be bringing more of these. They are super cheap (less than $1 at walmart) and you can refill them with melted water from your cooler.
1). An insane amount of bandana's. 2). More water then is necessary. 3). Sleeping medicine (for the mandatory 7 A.M. heat wave that occurs). 4). A crowbar moustache. 5). Optimistic Friends.
5 things I always have: 1) Tent fan-man this is handy for sleeping in a little bit longer 2) Bandanas-lots of them. I usually put one in the cooler each day and wrap it around my head for some cool relief. I bring extra for a dusk mask as well. 3) Two EZups. One for over the tent and one for a lounge area. 4) Beer, tons of water, and gatorade. Three must have items. If there is extra, give it away. 5) Batteries in all sizes. Never know when you'll need batteries.
5 things I will do for the future: 1) More shorts-ran out last year. Nothing wrong with swim wear but shorts are just a little more comfortable. 2) More gallon jugs of water. See above post. 3) Better preparation before hand (more exercise to better handle the Roo walking/standing) 4) More sinus meds in case of the dust bowl again. 5) Better shoes, blisters suck!

It didn't happen this past year and I have never had to dump my camelbak before but a friend I travel with did (two years ago). Not sure why because he walked in right behind me. I always try to get in a line that seems to have the most lax person working security. It has worked out well so far. Not to mention the male security peeps seem to be a lot easier on the females going through. YAY for the va jay jay!
I did have to dump my camelback fer the first year ever on two occasions in 2011. I think by mid-Saturday though the people checkin' out your gear didn't care anymore.
The biggest cooler you can find stocked with dry ice and about 50 frozen water bottles (frozen ahead of time). Seriously the best thing we did last year and will definitely be doing again.
^I brought a 5 day cooler full of frozen water bottles and frozen gatorade. They were still partially frozen when we left, and I didn't use dry ice. It was so nice to have cold drinks.
We pack our frozen water bottles into our plastic Coleman 5 day cooler Wednesday morning when we leave Ohio. We always have partially frozen water bottles when we return home the next Monday night. The frozen bottles are perfect for keeping your food cold - and fresh.
who pays money for the food inside centeroo? seriously...save your money for frozen lemonade
I keep getting stuck out in BFE, this year super BFE so I stopped bringing a lot of food it was a waste. Now it is peanut butter, bread, granola bars, cliff bars and a little bit of fresh fruit. More room for beer and water.

1. Ez-up (hands down the best thing ever). 2. Camelpak. 3. Money. 4. Beer and beer and extra beer. 5. Leader hose. (a $5 6 foot long hose you can buy at Walmart and shower with at water stations every morning [if you share it you can get it taken from you though])
And if you land in bfe, just pack up and move to tent only...

I wanted to think of five different must haves we all know about water, easy ups and sunscreen. 1. A watch don't miss that show and you don't want to carry your cell it probably won't get service anyway. 2. Medicine ie asprin loud sucks when you have a headace, sinus med., inhaler 3. TP and if you are a lady you know Roo will fall at the wrong time but not until you are inside unprepared. 4. Some kind of light, flashlight, glowstick, it's dark at night! 5. Some kind of raingear that dollar store pancho might be money well spent when it rains.
Do's 1. Make friends and party with your neighbors, they might be there when someone tries to take your stuff. 2. See a band you think you don't like. 3. Look for someone in need then help or give them something. Dude you look hungry let me by you a grilled cheese, Karma can also be a queen. 4. Catch a late night set and hopefully watch the sun come up. 5. Buy your ticket for next year.
Don't 1. Party too hard particullarly too early. 2. Steal, Karma is not only a queen she is also a 3. Forget to take care of your friends. 4. Be a jerk, fight, have a meltdown, hate on the world. 5. Forget where you parked, or where your keys are.
Also I didn't realize how important an EZ-up over your tent was until after my first 'roo.
speaking of water, did security make everyone dump out their camelbacks when entering last year?
/happened in 2010....totally ridiculous and hazardous considering the high temps and humidty...
We had to empty our CamelBaks twice last year - Thursday and Friday. Friday completely pissed me off because it took an hour to actually get through the security line into Centeroo.

1. lots of bandanas or a shemagh. dust and sun protection in one! 2. more water than you'll possibly drink 3. the normal meds (asprin, sleep aid, allergy) 4. tarps, tarps and more tarps (cant have enough IMO) 5. more rum 6. extra stash cash in your glovebox (cause losing your wallet at a late night set sucks) 7. extra shoes 8. at least two flashlights 9. a towel (read hitchhiker's, this is a must have for any situation) 10. an awesome attitude (you paid to be there, dont let the one jerk ruin your weekend)

1. A few sunscreens. My tried and true brand failed me last year. That TN heat and sun are brutal. 2. Two pairs of shoes. A must. Love my Chacos but changing things up halfway through the day when you are clear out in pod 11 is a lifesaver. 3. Larger CamelBak. Waiting in line for water mid day was the pits. 4. More baby wipes. Wipes chilling in the cooler after you've endured a long hot day, amazing and refreshing! 5. More fruit! About the only thing I ate last year. Everything else seemed too heavy due to the heat.
This will be my first time at Roo. I just want to say thank you to everyone who has posted. There are things listed that I would never have thought to bring! Can't wait Thankfully I work at a pharmacy, I'm going to make everyone jealous with my first aid kit
I don't care for Camelbacks. Too much hassle. You might have to empty them, sometimes the lines are long to fill them up, and I hate having something on my back all the time, it just makes me hot.
We do the dry ice and freeze giant bottles of water and just take 2 in. Since they are sealed you can bring them in. They last for awhile and then when we run out we'll just buy some more if needed. By then it's usually dark and we've moved onto other drinks like caffeine or whatever.
Much easier than messing with the lines for water and warm water at that. It's worth the extra cost imo.

my thoughts exactly. frozen water bottles feel great in my backpack when they start melting and keep my lower back nice and cool.
3/19 Portugal the Man 3/31 Japandroids 4/3 Alberta Cross/BRMC 5/1 White Rabbits 5/7 OK GO 5/14 Mumford and Sons 6/2 The National 6/10-13 Roo 8/21 MMJ and Tom Petty

My 5 Must haves - First 3 are obvious but can't be overstated as to their importance.
1. Protection from the sun - Brimmed hat, sun glasses, sun screen (I like the spray on stuff myself)
2. Water, lots and lots of water.
3. Cold hard cash!
4. A handheld GPS. Having my handheld was invaluable. Sure you may have a dazzeling flag flying over your camp but so do several thousand other people. And I had a great time on Thursday running around marking the locations of the stages and vendors. No matter how weird and alien things looked to my altered mind over the weekend I could always look at my GPS and know where i was in relation to everything else.
5. 2 changes of clothing for each day. You just never know.
5 must do's 4 n00bs at roo:
1. Pace yourself, especialy if drinking during the daylight hours. Drink water between each adult beverage.
2. Meet and greet your neighbors.
3. Take a stroll down shakedown st. and check out some of the unlicensed vendor's wears.
4. Bring extra memory cards or film for your camera and take LOTS of pictures.
5. Don't just limit your experience to seeing bands, go explore, there is SO MUCH to do at Bonnaroo!

I need to do more of this. 2012 will be my 4th Bonnaroo and I'm always torn up about conflicts, I have yet to truely wander and get wierd... I hope I can this year!
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
Do the cots really make a difference? We use air mattresses ourselves and they're fine until it gets hot.
I'm a fan of the cot. Air mattresses get hot and always seem to need refilling. The cot is light and keeps me off the ground in case it rains. Even in a tent with a tarp I'd still rather be off the ground.

The storage space you get under a cot is a HUGE bonus too!

Does anyone know if there is a thread already for must NOT HAVES? A first time friend mentioned bringing jeans and it got me thinking if there isn't, it might be a helpful thread to start. Anyone else think it would be a good idea for me to start one, if there isn't already?
