haha, i grew up 15 min from canadian border in northern New York and would never in a million years want to say I was "canadian". damn frogs. (i kid, you crazy syrup suckers)
I really don't believe that Arcade Fire are the reason that there were more Canadians this year. Why would anyone travel so far to see a band that plays all over the country on a semi-regular basis.
Also they are not from Canada.... they are from Quebec. (This is 100% a joke, I am not a separatist).
luvaluva, Watertown area? or more towards Quebec? I am in Kingston (lake Ontario)
Frogs are FRENCH CANADIAN, which I am half as well..tho I don't know why we're called that. Anywho, yes there were tons of us this year, and maybe because of Arcade but I was surprised as well to see so many traveling down alongside us Though everyone I still talk to at home still does not know what Bonnaroo is but it seems to be making it's way north for sure!!
massena/potsdam area (by Quebec) . small world. i love it and yes frogs are french canadian (majority of that area) and i have NO idea why you are called that either hahahhaha.

Uh we did. Not just for AF but they were a huge reason for us to finally go to Roo. (Them, MMJ, Black Keys) They don't tour Canada that often. You easterners get way more show than we do out west. Calgary has seen them pass through twice since they started touring and we are the 3rd, 4th or maybe 5th largest city by population in the country. That's 7 years and 2 shows. Pearl Jam is here more often. There is also something to be said about experienceing your favorite bands at massive American music fests where the atmosohere is leaps and bounds better than a hockey arena show or the fests we have out west for that matter.

My favorite Canada moment was when the Knux were playing and this girl brought this huge Canadian flag. Too bad I had to tell her Knux was short for knuckleheads and that they were originally from New Orleans. Her look was priceless. I wish I had taken the picture.

'How does one describe Canada?- The loft apartment over a kickass party!'
Joke!
We have had Canadian neighbors the past two years and they were all super cool. Gotta respect the determination to make a 20+ hour drive as well. That is f-ckin hardcore.
Lots more of them this year and a ton showed up to support the Canadian band that was in the competition at This Tent. Sheepdogs?
Really a fun group of folks even by Roo standards. I can hang with Canadians anytime/anywhere
At Target up in Smyrna, I met a guy from Winnipeg who had drove down 25 hours. That's pretty hardcore.
If you needed to question how many Canadians there were at Roo, should have been at the Sports Bar during the Boston/Vancouver game on Friday night. I bet you didn't see too many at MMJ.
Our Canadian Group had 11 cars in it! With more that got separated at the gates. If we had all got in together it would have been around 15 cars coming from all over Ontario. 5th year for me... brought a lot of Roo-kies and a couple Vet-a-Roos too. A buddy and myself got our pre-sale already. We are going to try and bring a bus down next year. Some of you might have seen a orange and yellow Cannaroo Canada flag that had headphones on the maple leaf... that was us

yes!!! We were camped at Camp Thunderlips right IN FRONT of the That Tent back entrance - we saw lots and lots of characters walking by (percent people watching camp) and we did notice a lot of Canadians. They were all a cool bunch. A couple tents back from us there was a huge Canada flag, which was a marker for us. Last year I kept seeing a girl and guy with a Canada/Pot leaf flag saw them this year too GOOD PEOPLE!
Sunday night a group of girl Canadians came by to do some box-of-win funneling. HOT Canadian girls I didn't partake I'm more of a vodka type girl but the visuals were good
There were SO many canadians! Also a lot of northerners - Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. I feel like it definitely added a slightly different vibe, because Canadians and Northerners know how to drink. I met a Canadian who got arrested in my hometown, I thought that was a hilarious coincidence.

I had no idea that they didn't make it out that way that much. I guess now that they've gotten much bigger they don't play around here nearly as often as they used to.
What is up with Canadians and their flags? Every Canadian is the Hacksaw Jim Duggan of Canada.
There were certainly a lot of our flags there but c'mon, America is so in your face with the Stars and Stripes its ridiculous. Maybe not as far as festival goers go but every time I cross the border that is the first thing I notice

The first thing I notice is houses with initials on them....
I seemed to notice a bunch of people from massachusetts there... can't really recall many canadians though. Was actually walking through either Camp Adrien, or Camp Arty Mcfly with a 508 poster, but it was for the cape so I didn't stop haha.
That being said, it seems that the further you get from roo, the louder the people are about going. Tennesee had that ish on lockdown though... as they rightfully should.
In my case, if you're going to a huge music festival 1100 miles from home - of course you're gonna do some bragging. People don't have the something to commit to it, and I have twice.
And I saw the Canadian potleaf flag during Dr. John's LN set.
