If you take residents from the country of Canada and group them with people from individual US states, Canadians may have had the biggest impact at Bonnaroo 2011. These fine people from north of the border showed up in masses, were willing to give a helping hand if needed, went out of their way to introduce themselves, and just had a kick ass time. I am proud of my home state of NY in the amount of people that made the long trip, but Canadians took it to the next level this year.
So the question becomes, did Canadians win Bonnaroo 2011?
that makes no sense. 'if you put a whole country together and then compare it to individual states then there were more people from the huge ass country...'
maybe if you broke it up into provinces itd make sense but nooo
also there were the people pretending to be canadian. that was funny for a while, actually. these girls next to us had a canadian guy in their camp and a canadian flag. they kept shouting that they were canadian and singing o canada. literally 'o canada' was the only words they sang haha
i met awesome people from all over. i think everyone won

There were a lot more Canadians that other years this year. There were also more gay boys than usual. I think it probably was due to Arcade Fire for the Canadians, Scissor Sisters for the gay boys (and maybe John Waters too).
that makes no sense. 'if you put a whole country together and then compare it to individual states then there were more people from the huge ass country...'
You do realize that the states of New York and Florida (two states that have many residents travel to Bonnaroo) individually make up nearly 2/3s of Canada's ENTIRE population. And Texas, which also sends a lot of people to Roo makes up about 3/4s of Canada's population. Take the populations of British Columbia & Alberta out (the two western most provinces on the US-Canada border) and the Texas vs. Canada population is a wash, with NY & Florida extremely close. Yet, the amount of Canadians there, especially those from Toronto was tremendous.
Please tell me you were trolling when you said "one huge country" and I should break it down in provinces. You did know Canada is only 1/9th in size compared to the US, right? Maybe not. Oh well. ???

Neighbors two cars down were a couple from Ontario. Spent hours chatting with them. Saw a Canadian flag at Florence with a "different" kind of leaf in the middle ... ahem.

aww. you mad? canada is literally a huge as country. it is not 1/9th the size of the us and i hope that its only your reading comprehension that has gone this horribly wrong.
america is more populated, for sure. america is not bigger.
i really dont know why this got a bit hostile, im sorry if you took my post as trollish. like i said- all the people i met there were amazing. canadians included. i was more impressed with the travel time the australians i met put in.

Canada is 1/9th the US size in population. What does area have anything to do with the amount of Canadians showing up to Bonnaroo? I don't think this is hostile at all and I'm not mad. I just saw you making an asinine, misinformed comment and easily corrected you. I hope you learned something.
I didn't think anything of it until this post, but damn there were a lot if Canadians! 3/5 of the groups surrounding me in tent only were from Canada, and every concert I went to there was at least one Canadian flag waving. I don't know if they 'won' Bonnaroo but they sure do know how to represent.
I was selling beer, easily 25% of the ids I checked were from Canada.
bonnaroo checks id's?
I have never been asked to show an ID at Bonnaroo. Jess is just really strict. Or maybe I look old. I still get carded when buying tobacco where I live.

They said 35 and under, I did not do that at all, but I did ask for several. No idea of whether or not it is true but they said the new distributor would be sending under ages to try and buy beer, and we would have issues if we sold it to them.
I did actually meet the Canadians who camped next to me in 09, and I let use my ezup because they had no shade when I was selling beer though.

you were arguing size thats all
i wasnt carded but i did see someone get carded by another vendor once. it was weird because i couldnt remember ever being carded. then i felt old hah
Well, I mean Bill Simmons tried to trade us for Vancouver (which is really a raw deal for Canada) but we're still American.
At least as American as any place can be with more Tim Hortons' than Dunkin' Donuts.
We go to Canada fairly often by way of Buffalo. If you sleep through the actual border crossing, it can be hard to tell which side of the border you are on :-)

MOst of the Canadians around us were cool. Including the ones camped next to us that also cut us in line on I-24.. I didn't talk to them much,... I just can't believe that people could have missed the gigantic truck with the big flashing sign and lights that said "Bonnaroo traffic, get on shoulder NOW!!!" I saw a cop catch 2 people, but he missed the white rental car these Vancouver folks had.. they cut in about 50 feet from the exit.
We came! We saw! We kicked Bonnaroo's ass!!! LMAO! There were a shit ton of us down there this year. The reason we stand out is because we always fly and/or wear flags and yes we tend to be very vocal and proud of being Canadian. There were several large groups around us as well in Pod 8. Not sure about next year for everyone else but we are coming back and bringing more people this time. Did you notice the LED Canadian flags up front for Arcade Fire? That was us!
I wore my Toronto Blue Jays early 90's hat all weekend and everybody thought I was canadian.
They were then way too disappointed I was from Buffalo, NY.
But but buffalo is Canada.
No thanks, you can have it!
But in all seriousness. There were tons of us around. I flew a Canadian flag at our tent, but I didn't walk around with a red maple leaf on my chest... and I somehow STILL ran into at least 4 or 5 Canucks a day.
