It really was amazing and exceeded all expectations. You're in for a treat.
This looks so ridiculously fucking sick. I HAVE to see this. Whatever east-side music festival that books this in the summer is where I will be. This is a deal sealer. Holy fuck. I'm really hoping Ultra is cool enough to snag this

I would absolutely love to go to mooogfest but its not in the cards for me
I only have so much money to blow on music festivals, and even more importantly I only have so many days I can take off of work. I need to choose wisely. I got to see most of the bands I want to see on that lineup though this year (with the exception of Amon Tobin) And I'm going to lean way more toward camping festivals, but I make exceptions depending on the line-up.

Art Basel is gonna be happening in miami, and like usual it's drawing a bunch of good shows that week. One night in particular is kind of a tough decision. James murphy/pat mahoney- Special Disco Version, Yacht, and Neon Indian are all playing on the same night.
I'm leaning way towards Special Disco Version as I fucking love LCD soundsystem and would like to check out what james and matt do on the turntable, but I'm not 100% convinced I'm going to really dig the kind of music they spin.. at least not as much as I might get into Yacht or Neon Indian..

Special Disco Version is more unique a show, and will probably be a big, fun dance party. I've heard they pull out all kinds of awesome, retro disco music, so it's definitely going to be stuff you've never heard/would normally listen to, but I think it still makes for an awesome show.

What would you guys do?
I saw James Murphy at Freefest this year and it was very Meh. I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of LCD soundsystem though.

Yeah, well I adore LCD Soundsystem, but I don't think what they spin is anything like their music. I'm not exactly a fan of retro disco. But.. you know.. it's James Murphy. I'd imagine he'd impress me with whatever he spins.

They have some videos up of SDV on youtube that could give you a better idea of what it would be. Also, I think what.cd has a concert in full as a download if you're into that sorta thing.
Have fun at Beirut. Sure to be a great set. I'm driving to Louisville to see The Sea and Cake. Anyone into them? I haven't caught 'em in like 12 yrs and I cannot wait.

I have to say I really liked his personality and the fact that he was the only DJ I saw all weekend who used vinyl was impressive.
i splurged and got a Beirut ticket for Sunday night in Philly... are they good live?
Let me know how it is. I want to see them in a couple weeks but I'm not sure I want to spend the $30+ for it, seems like it might be kind of steep for them.
Gotta vent. I just found out that the show I'm looking most forward to this year, one of my favorite bands ever, is being opened by one of my least favorite bands, ever. Blech.

This show was aweeeeeeesome, btw. T-Shorty is entering his peak as a performer. His musicianship has been world-class for a while now, and he's certainly improving in that regard, but what I saw Friday was a guy who has entered a new level of performing. His shows have always been high-energy and fun, but Friday was a step up from where he's been in the past.
My personal favorite: Shorty doing a James Brown/Michael Jackson dance mashup. Dude has some SERIOUS moves.
