I'm ending my year long concert drought in a couple of weeks. Road tripping to Chattanooga with my best friend and his best lady to see Mutemath on the 13th! It's been waaay too long since I've seen a great show. It's my last hurrah before I get killed at work on Valentine's day. It's gonna be awful doing all the late night driving, but if they put on half the show they did the last time I saw them then it should be totally worth it.
I saw them at the end of December and it was so good. They played the new album in its entirety and then played all the songs you wanted to hear (and ones you didn't know you wanted) in the second half of the show. They are so good live.

My dad is very into music and used to be really into going to live shows (e.g. he went to fucking Woodstock) and I've been really wanting to connect with him on the music nerd level recently so before Christmas I gave him a list of shows in NC in feb/march that I'd like to go see with him. He chose mutemath and I'm excited; we are going to the Carrboro show in 3ish weeks

You're in for a real treat. They opened for Phoenix at jazzfest a few years back and made phoenix look like chump change. They're so great live. Energetic and super fun.

I've seen UM more times than I can remember...I just don't feel like making a 3 hour drive by myself (I don't live in Richmond, my brother does) to go see somebody I have seen numerous times by myself. It was going to be me, my girlfriend, my brother, and possibly one of my UVA buddies...it just didn't work out for anybody.
Wilco is playing 45 mins from my apartment that night...more than likely hitting that up.

Going to the bolded ones. I was going to go to Bully, but remember my gf's cousin's bday is this weekend so we'll be in Tampa instead. The Mountain Goats is a solo set from one of the members, btw. I'm not dying to see Frank Turner or Of Montreal, but may be interested in some of the other choices.

tonight i'm going to see the symphony play a mash up of copland's "appalachian spring" with bon iver. my bf went to the brahms x radiohead show a few months ago and said it was beautiful, so i'm pretty excited.
