tonight i'm going to see the symphony play a mash up of copland's "appalachian spring" with bon iver. my bf went to the brahms x radiohead show a few months ago and said it was beautiful, so i'm pretty excited.
I have a feeling that buying a ticket to see Godspeed You! Black Emperor before having ever listened to them was one of the better decisions I've made in life.
I feel assured that this show is gonna be sonically out of control.

Seeing them next friday, pretty stoked for that show. In case you decide to listen to some of their music before the show these are my two favorites

I plan on listening to all their full lengths before the show, if I get enough time. I've listened to their most recent thrice and am on 'Allelujah! for the first time right now. I appreciate the links though, I'll definitely be checking them out as I get around to the albums.

Just an FYI for anyone looking to attend one of these dates, Pittsburgh show was more of an "appearance" than anything. Requested the venue be changed twice because he sold out the first 2, showed up 3.5 hours late, didn't touch the mic and stood behind his DJ drinking champagne the entire night. I didn't attend (thankfully) but this was relayed to me by multiple trustworthy sources (including the promoter that brought him in). Save your $$

Hey MN people, anyone interested in going to the GY!BE show on 2/11 at First Ave? I can get 1 person into the show for free...only caveat is that you would have to enter the venue with me...a small price to pay I guess.
Decaanter, since you seem to already be going, you want to meet up at the show?

My dad is very into music and used to be really into going to live shows (e.g. he went to fucking Woodstock)
My parents (mother and stepfather technically) brought the whole family to Woodstock '99 when I was 14. I know my biological father went to at least one of the original ones too. It's good to be raised by music lovers I still go to shows and festivals with my parents. I'm buying Brian Wilson for the three of us tomorrow
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
How does Brian Wilson sound these days? I'm on the fence for buying tix today
He sounded fine in the live performance during the rolling credits at the end of the biopic Love & Mercy. I missed him at Bonnaroo with The Beach Boys a few years ago but I'm looking forward to seeing him at Levitation.

Ok cool. I actually saw the Beach Boys show, but I was laying down relaxing, and it was more background music than anything else.
The tickets are pricey! I jumped on at 10 AM and realized the front section was like $250 each. I ended up with 3rd row on the back section ($55 each +fees). This is for The Oakdale in CT.

So I ended up snagging Iggy Pop tickets, justifying it because Iggy Pop is still on my bucket list. If anyone is interested, the presale code for the Minneapolis show is 'thecurrent'. I've also seen 'Depression' as another presale code for other cities floating around out there.
