So, I'm thinking the headliner left is a big name. Someone with enough clout to be allowed to announce apart from the lineup. I assume someone who hasn't announced tour plans yet and is doing so at some point this week, maybe to coincide with an album release or something. I don't really know. I think the Beach Boys fall under that. Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Thinking unrealistically would be someone like Macca or Prince, but they could fall in that category.
You are right, it could be. Don't they have the same management as DMB now (Coran Capshaw)? If so, I don't see why it would be an issue for them to announce prior to having tour dates out (same as DMB). But it is possible.
The addition is gonna be RHCP. I tweeted the drummer "will I be seeing you in gulf shores? I was expecting to see yalls name last night. The suspense sucks." to see what he would say. He direct messaged me "Stay tuned..we love Alabama." I have a iPhone screenshot on my facebook. If someone can explain to me how to put it up here I will.

Now I feel a little less bad about having to miss. I'll be seeing them at Roo.

Not terribly excited about RHCP having heard they don't deliver in concert. Maybe someone else has a better experience? They are legends, though, so I guess it's like seeing the Statue of Liberty when you make it to New York, isn't it.
Red Hot Chili Peppers Dave Matthews Band The Beach Boys
Jack White Mumford and Sons John Mayer The Roots Adele
Snoop Dogg Fiona Apple Local Natives Robert Randolph and the Family Band Galactic Trampled by Turtles The Steeldrivers Grouplove Marc Broussard Matt Nathanson Donna the Buffalo
The Beach Boys are the only thing they can do now to top last year. Seeing Paul Simon on the beach was amazing and it would be hard to top that. I'm not even sure it can be done.
Having to get a condo and all that crap has kept me from considering Hangout, but once I found out there is nice State Park to camp at a mile and a half up the road, I was in! I can ride my bike or catch the shuttle.
Slight de-rail. So has anyone stayed at the park? How safe is it to leave you tent up and go to the festival all day? At Roo I would drop in on my camp area every so often just to eat or try to cool off a little. But we are doing the VIP tix at hangout and there won't be a need to go back to our campground until the night. Just wondering if it's worth it, if we'll be able to leave our stuff up. Or if we should just crash in the truck on some side streat. Thanks for the input.

That is all.
It is pretty well patrolled nobody messed with my stuff last year.
I'll believe Gaga when I see it. Her announcement is two hours after the Hangout announcement anyway.
That RHCP message makes me even more convinced it won't be them. Look at the wording - it sounds like they have another Alabama date booked. That could just be wishful thinking on my part, though.
Also, I agree with caddy, I'd be surprised to see a Jazz Fest repeat.
Jack White, Wilco, FLips and SCI is plenty for me. I would pay 50 to see any of them.
I realize that most of you have seen some or all of these but I have seen NONE of them.
The list of other shows that look good to me are: DMB (Im not a huge fan, but I hear he puts on good shows so I will check it out) STS9 (missed em at roo due to being a vagina and going back to camp to sleep) Gogol (same as above) Skrillex (I want to molly out and catch this show. bite me) G Love Alabama Shakes Gary Clark Jr Flogging Molly Paper Diamond (close as Im gonna come to Bisco this summer I guess)
There's plenty there for me.
By the way I have seen absolutely NONE of the bands listed above. Zero.
I'm right there with you! Only acts on the lineup I have seen in person before are Coheed and Oakenfold...no desire to see either of them again, but really looking forward to checking out the rest of the lineup and maybe becoming a fan of some bands I never thought I'd like before.
This is my first real festival...I rode over for the Bassnectar and Pretty Lights late night shows last year and caught a few acts from the dunes behind the stages, but I didn't grab a 3-day pass in time to go inside the actual fest. Decided to get on board early this year so I wouldn't miss out. A weekend stay-cation with some of my closest friends for some excellent live music the weekend after my birthday! It will be hard for me not to be excited, no matter who else is added to the lineup!
Any year that could possibly count The Beach Boys and Wilco is never weak, IMO.
I am excited about the lineup so far, apprently I'm on of the few, but I just don't understand the excitement people are expressing over possible Beach Boys show.
I've seen a lot of shows but not many festivals, maybe it's a festival thing?? or just the idea of Beach Boys on the beach? Or maybe just the return of Brian Wilson that is creating such buzz?
I saw the Beach Boys after a minor leaugue baseball game once... I wasn't impressed.

It's the return of Brian. You won't hear all those state fair songs. Think Pet Sounds. Think Smile. That's what you would get.

I have to admit, I have probably been thinking of "state fair" Beach Boys everytime i have seen them brought up in this thread. It's the surf rock stuff that comes to my mind when I think of them. Probably because of growing up on the Gulf Coast and hearing it all the time. Now that you mention Pet Sounds and Smile I am much more optimistic about their show because I do like a lot of their more psychedelic, older stuff. If that is the case, they would be the perfect Sunday Night closer to this festival.

But wouldn't they be the Saturday closer? Jack White was announced for the 18th, and the leaked DMB tour dates have them on Sunday.
