This board is disappointingly predictable. Female artists being compared not on any musical basis but solely on gender, and a dismissal of a legit artist because what radio station she is played on.

Yeah because the level of discourse surrounding Grace Potter is clearly the high point of this board. Wow she's hot! Let's have Bjork instead of Beyonce well because they're both ladies! At least Gaga and Beyonce are in the same relative park when it comes to their music.

Help me here. I trying to understand your discontent with this thread. You think Grace Potter is not talented? Beyonce is not liked because she is "main stream"? Or they just aren't Taylor Swift?

I'll cut the shit because I actually like and respect you Druid.
I think every time Grace Potter is mentioned, the conversation almost immediately goes to "SHES HOT!" instead of actually talking about her show and music. Of course those posts probably stick out in my memory because of how embarrassing they are. I think bringing up Bjork to headline instead of Beyonce in a Beyonce thread just because they're both ladies! is like saying "nah I don't want Stevie Wonder there. If we're going to get one of those blacks to play let's just get Donald Glover! There's something inherently, and admittedly hard to define, wrong about that. It doesn't pass the smell test for me.
As far as the majority of the board immediately dismissing an artist because they are "mainstream", I think that obviously takes place. There's a clear aversion to mainstream hip-hop artists that Juggs has been for some reason trying to deal with rationally. I think that when it comes to anyone that could be considered pop, people get even more ridiculous.
Also <3 T$, but Beyonce has proven herself to be a talented icon. Beyonce is in a completely different league.
Thank you awolfatthedoor. I agree with you about Grace Potter. I love her music, but I have been guilty of admiring her looks. It's because I WISHED I looked like her.
It's not just women that get this treatment on the board. We are all guilty of saying that we don't mind artist A performing, but artist B would be better. Nature of the beast.
As far as mainstream hate, we love being music snobs, me included. If everyone listens to it, it must be sh!t. Hell, I used to like Creed until I started posting here. Ok, not really, just that one song.
I'll cut the Leno because I actually like and respect you Druid.

Well said. I'm definitely guilty of a lot of this, especially the pop hating. It's hard to come clean with yourself about that stuff. I try to keep an open mind, but it's not always easy.

or maybe people dont want Beyonce because they dont have any interest in her music?
as far as Bjork, theres always been discussions on here about which female acts could headline Bonnaroo. Well I agree that Beyonce(and Gaga) have the name recognition to do it, their music doesnt appeal to me, so i would not want to see it. Bjork on the other hand I think would not only have the name recognition, but also has music that I enjoy, so id fully support her gettin a headling spot.
I am so there if Beyonce has a headlining spot next year! She killed her Glastonbury set, and she would be just as class as Jay Z was. I would love to hear Halo on the farm!
Beyonce is talented, no doubt, but there's a lot of other artists I'd rather see. I'd be a little disappointed if she got a headlining spot. Her music just isn't my thing. I'd probably catch a little of her show and then leave to get a good spot for someone I really wanted to see while everyone was at her show.
