More of a club fest than most of the others here (but there's also a film fest, record show, and music conference in addition to 2 days of music at the Howlin Wolf), but probably my favorite musical event of the year. They book real soul, R&B, rockabilly, country and garage legends, 99% of which can still play their asses off, and the vibe of the crowd CAN NOT be beat. Dunno how the new venue will be (used to be at the House of Blues) but I hope the vibe stays intact. Used to be the Tues-Weds between JazzFest Weekends...we'd gone for several years, but missed it last year because they moved to Sept, but we're planning to go this year.
Here's the lineup. Eddie Floyd, William Bell, Allen Toussaint and GG Shinn are highlights...I'd expect more surprises as its their 10th anniversary:
Allen Toussaint Dave Bartholomew William Bell Eddie Floyd Sir Mack Rice The Bo-Keys featuring Skip Pitts & Howard Grimes Jimmy “Duck” Holmes Lazy Lester Big Jay McNeely The Relatives Lady Bo Arch Hall Jr Carol Fran Lavelle White Little Leo G.G.
