Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
First let me start by saying the overwhelming support for Chris and his family after this tragic event has been amazing. After having been at Roo for 5 years with him, seeing him have such an impact on everyone else is amazing to me, and really helps with the grieving process.
Every year Yoder would busy himself scanning Inforoo, connecting with people, finding out information about the festival and just investing all his time into making his and your Roo experience the best it could be. He truly loved this festival and, in some odd, twisted way, it's comforting to know that he'll always be there.
Yoder was my best friend and roommate. We went to Roo together for the past 5 years, and they were some of the best times of my life, and memories I will never forget. I miss him and would love for any of you to help with this in any way possible that you can.
For those that have interacted with Yoder, you already know how great of a person he was.
It's time for us to return the favor and honor him the way he'd want: by throwing a benefit concert in his name. I'm proud to announce the beginnings of Yoderfest 2011, August 13, 2011 at the Raleigh Pour House.
You may be asking, "beginnings?" To which I say, "Yes. Beginnings." Given the fact that none of us (his friends in Raleigh) have organized something of such a magnitude, we need help getting it off the ground. Help us make this the best concert we can for the guy that helped and touched so many of you.
The goal here is to raise as much money as possible so we can alleviate some of the financial burden that is being placed on his family in the form of medical bills and also to the foundation to build a house in Mexico in his name. I want to make it clear - absolutely NONE of the profits will go to us, the organizers. We're doing this for his family, and to honor our brother.
Bands: The biggest idea here is that the bigger the act, the more attention we draw to those not aware of what is going on. Our goal is to pack the house, have a great night, and tell our story.
One idea we had is that everyone get in contact with any type of artist that could possibly be available. Its not going to hurt to think big either. If everyone could simply write an email on the website of certain bands and talk about what we have going on, it can’t hurt anything. If nothing else, they could donate merch to a great cause.
Our goal is to have the line-up set by July 15th in order to start full-on promotion.
Raffle items: This is really our main focus from now until the event. Raffle items can be anything, and people love to win ANYTHING.
Some suggested focus points are: breweries, local restaurants, band merch & bonnaroo merch, donated artwork, gift cards from businesses……But this is not limited, like I said…anything works.
Alongside the raffle we wanted (depending on what types of Merch we can get) to have a silent auction outside of the venue. These two aspects of the night are going to be what is the really the difference maker about the donation we raise, so make this your long-term focus. You won’t know unless you ask people!!

Advertising for this event, like any other, is crucial. People don’t know unless you tell them about it. For our area, we should look at contacting Independent magazine, local record companies, and radio stations such as 88.1, or hell, even G-105. WRAL and other local news stations wouldn’t hurt either.
We won’t have much other than the date to promote until some final details get hammered out, but as soon as they do, I will let you know. In the meantime, ideas are always welcome.
The goal here is to have a bang out first year so that we can carry on to 2012 and have a bang out second, third, fifth, tenth, etc. year. Yoder's life goal was to have his own festival. What better way to honor the man than to get it organized now?
We can’t thank you enough for wanting to help out. This is going be an incredible way to honor the life of our brother….let me know if you have any questions.
My email is cbadders@gmail.com. Even if you can't help and would like to donate, that would be wonderful as well.
I have nothing to give right now but I would encourage you to contact the folks at Winoca records. They've got Winoca fest scheduled in Wilmington in August and maybe they can throw in a couple of passes or even possibly a meet and greet. Here's the link www.winocarecords.com/

Booferoo- Great idea. I would love to help in any way I can. Yoderoo touched a lot of folks on this board and hopefully they'll come out in droves. I would start looking into bands from around your area that have an affiliation with Roo and also bands that will be coming through that general area around the date of your fest. Good luck getting started and keep us informed!!!
I would suggest getting in contact with AC Entertainment about this. They handle alot of concert bookings in North Carolina, and might be willing to help out, either with financially securing the venue on your behalf, booking an act, or maybe even sending some merch or tickets for the raffle.
Again, this is a big maybe, as they may not want any further attention drawn to the incident.
Also, I know this is going to sound weird (I don't even have an account, if that says anything) but I think it would be worth it to see if we could get Yoderfest 2011 trending on Twitter. The name of the game is marketing and just spreading the word.. I know in these early stages with no bands to speak of now that's a stretch, but if you could just tweet the hell out of it, it might go a long way.
Also: we have a website dedicated to updates and announcements about it. Our designer is currently heading back to her place in LA, so it doesn't have much on it yet, BUT.. keep your eyes out on www.Yoderfest.com for any updates.
I'm from Greenville down the road from you guys and I'd love to help you out with this. I know a few bands here and from Raleigh that I could connect you with, if you'd like. PM or email me at sannh0325@gmail.com and we can talk about it.

Unfortunately there's not much I can offer except my support fer this! Maybe if I play my cards right I could spend some days surroundin' this in Raleigh.
Just wanted to say thanks again to everyone. The ideas, the support, even just words of encouragement mean a lot, and I know they would to Chris as well.
I always said Bonnaroo was like his second home, and the overwhelming support that everyone has shown over the boards is astounding. I think thats why we felt at home there, because it's a community of people, not just your ordinary festival.
Again, much appreciated with everyone's help with the concert..
For those regular followers of this feed, and those just stopping by, BIG NEWS:
We have two acts booked and one in the works. If anyone has heard of Supatight out of Greenville and Once and Future Kings out of Raleigh, they are our two confirmed. We're working to get Kingator, who also does the Raleigh circuit quite often.
Also: Yoderfest.com has launched! It may look a little bland right now, but give it a week or so to add all the info on the show up and we'll be good to go.
For those of you who aren't going to be able to make it, fear not: we're working on setting up a paypal account so that we can take donations that way as well as ticket sales.
As always, keep the suggestions/contacts coming! Many thanks!
Anyone going to Allgood.. we'll be seeing you in a couple days!
Bands are confirmed.. The date is nearing.. I feel that same anxiousness I get when I'm making the drive from Raleigh to Roo every year.
For everyone who can make it out we have four great acts coming to play, it should be a great show.
For those who can't make it but still want to donate - we are working on getting a memorial fund set up with a local bank. Once that info gets forwarded to me, I'll forward it on to you guys. I know a lot of you donated in the initial go around so don't feel pressured to continuously donate, though any contribution would be great!
Also.. we have .jpg imagines of the two fliers we're going to be circulating.. if anyone would like them in order to help get the word out just forward me your e-mail address and i'll send them your way. I'm moving this weekend so i'll be out of touch for a couple days, but will get them to you asap.

Thought everyone might like an update...
This is the plaque that will be mounted on the wall of the home being built in Mexico with the funds from the Chris Yoder Memorial Fund. The check in the photo is for $8,300 +...and that's enough to build one whole house plus part of another. What a tribute.
