I'm a little biased...but they were the main reason I went and I thought they put on a hell of a show. Great energy, and the horns really added that extra something special....
Had never seen them live before and only really listened when one of my friends put them on.
That being said, they were awesome. Jimmy Herring is astounding. Multiple times I stared in disbelief while he ripped it. The light show was really cool, but they were one of the best live bands I've ever seen. I bought tickets to their show on the Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn before Roo, thinking if I didn't like them I would just sell them. Well, I'm keeping them now.

I've never considered myself a fan. I saw them once about 5 years ago and was very disappointed. I thought the show at Roo was very good, definitely exceeded expectations. They sounded really good.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
i wasnt a fan of them, but i checked out some of the show from pretty far back on the What stage lawn and i enjoyed it. just relaxed and enjoyed some corn with the friends, it was a nice way to end the weekend

Panic is my favorite band so of course Im going to favor them over other bands, but they truly were my favorite show all weekend. Going into the weekend I was more excited about Buffalo Springfield and String Cheese Incident because even though Panic's my Favorite, I've never seen SCI or Neil Young in any form. Panic just blew me away though, even though it was my 16th time seeing them, there was something so special about that show. Maybe it was the fact that my first panic show was at Bonnaroo, or maybe it was them opening with Arleen W/ the megablasters featuring Randall Bramblett (who is my all time favorite guest that panic brings out). Or the fact that they brought out Bruce Hornsby who I didnt know much about before roo but decided to check him out and loved every minute of his show. It could have been the crazy ass light show or the Heartbreaker bust-out. But honestly I think it was the crowd that made that show so fun, alot of great people around us having more fun than I saw anyone having all weekend. All in All it was an amazing night the brought the end to an amazing weekend.
We had to leave so that my daughter could get back for classes, so we left right after the Strokes/Superjam. It disappointed me to miss WSP though. I like them.

I'm right there with ya...I didn't go into too much detail bc I wasn't sure if anyone on here was really a fan.
They sounded great with the Megablasters..their horn section sounds so clear and crisp compared to the Dirty Dozen Brass Band (who i've loved seeing with Panic over the years too). The setlist was great. I've seen the band well over 60 times and the Heartbreaker bustout was huge...the Hornsby sit-in left a little to be desired. We were hoping they'd bust out a Dead tune with him. He just seemed lost during Red Hot Mamma.
The Bust It Big>Pigeons>Chilly Water>Love Tractor>Chilly Water was a great way to end a great festival. Seeing the band who started it all, close out the 10 anniv was pretty special.

i enjoyed widespread panic before i saw them at roo and was blown away. now i think they're fuckin awesome. i downloaded the set and i noticed actually how amazing it truly is. I was pretty drunk at their show but still thought it was phenomenal. Definitely exceeded my expectations.

I was volunteering on the disability platform that night and I thought it was really good. It was my first time ever hearing them, and while I kind of thought a lot of the songs sounded similar I thought their set was tight, there were a few songs I really dug, and the lights were amazing!! It made me wish that I was on something, lol. Definitely a good show, and a nice way to end my Roo!

I wasn't there, but I did watch the webcast. They were great when they were playing their instruments and keeping their mouths shut. I agree though, you do need to admire their musicianship. I would've been happy with them closing out the fest. I hope they keep the jam headliner tradition alive.
I was packing up my campsite during the first half of Widespread, so I only saw them from like 9:45 onwards. I actually enjoyed them in '08, but thought this year's show was just okay. Since Roo's already broken the unopposed headliner mold in recent years, would it really kill them to just put someone on Which against one of their least popular headliners?
I still stand by my opinion that Widespread Panic and Buffalo Springfield should have switched timeslots.
To be honest, I think The Strokes made one phenomenal album followed it up with three mediocre ones that have all fruitlessly tried to recapture that creative spark on their debut.
That said, I caught about 30 minutes of their show at Roo and enjoyed what I saw - however, even though I liked the show, Julian still seemed to be holding onto that whole "I'm hipsterer than thou and therefore will barely acknowledge the audience's presence" swag he had when I last saw them 9 years earlier.
I have now seen them seven times and feel qualified to say that they do absolutely nothing for me. They're fine. They aren't bad or anything but they make absolutely no connection with me.
I am not a fan and fell asleep during a portion of their 2008 set, but I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this year’s set. I thought it was really a nice way to close out the fest. That said, if I had to rank every show I saw, this one would still be near the bottom. But maybe that’s a testament to how good the lineup was this year.
