Bonnaroo never claimed they were bringing the sonic forrest back. The sonic forest claimed the sonic forest was coming back. Or at least one of our posters here said so.
Especially considering he posts so often freaking out about promoters announcing him playing somewhere when it's not even confirmed yet... Talk about hypocritical...

I bet they cast a wide net. Reach out to more people than they can book, knowing that negotiations with many of them will fail. Maybe they initially contacted him with interest. Then once they had Eminem, Big Boi, Lil Wayne, atmosphere, wiz khalifa, chiddy bang, the knux, etc they realized "holy shit we overbooked hip hop. We might need to cancel on someone"

^^I've considered that possibility a lot, but, I dunno - it seems like scheduling many more hip-hop acts than needed just because you expect several of them to fall through is a completely ass-backwards way of organizing a festival. But, I have no experience in concert or festival booking, so I really have only a vague sense of everything that goes into the process. And you'd think that a Blackstar reunion would be a bigger priority for them than Wiz Khalifa, Chiddy Bang and The Knux combined, at least judging by the reactions on this board (which, granted, isn't always the most accurate measurement of what the typical Roo attendee wants, but still).
No Blackstar was disappointing, but we knew that they weren't going to be there going into the festival. And I really can't blame Roo for that one, since Talib was the one who mentioned it, not Superfly. However, no Sonic Forest was a letdown for me, since we had been told it would be back (I even spent 20-30 minutes looking for it). I'd never been to it, and that Aziz Ansari clip from YouTube had me so excited too!

By your reasonin' fer not blamin' 'Roo fer no Blackstar, you also can't lay any blame on 'Roo because there was no Sonic Forest. AC/Superfly never mentioned the Sonic Forest, just as they never mentioned Blackstar. The people in charge of the Sonic Forest either mentioned somethin' here, or Dr. Teeth emailed them (or received an email from them) sayin' that they would be back on The Farm this year.

Hmm... I seem to vaguely remember someone from this board sending an email to Bonnaroo about it and being told it would be there. I didn't realize they emailed the Sonic Forest people instead of Bonnaroo, so that does change things.

I don't know about Bonnaroo employees lying in 2011, I think they did a pretty good job of delivering, but there were a ton of crap talkers on this board that did a bit of the dirty deed.
