alright yall, i just had an awesome idea for roo 2013- a brainfeeder tent curated by flylo
i know some ppl will think that putting electronic music during the day is blasphemous, but brainfeeder has a diverse range of artists and some could (and would) hold down daytime slots tokimonsta, nosaj thing, thundercat, gaslamp killer, teebs, daedelous, and lorn. dr strangloop could be there providing multi-media art [and these are just the brainfeeders artists that i know of, there are plenty more]
i think that this would be a good way for roo to embrace electronic music and open peoples eyes to a genre of music they might not have heard before- at roo electronic musicians are almost exclusively given late night slots so only the night owls get to see it. many people have been complaining (unjustly, imo) about the lack of edm on this years lineup, i think that something like an all-electronic curated tent might appease the edm junkies without breaking the bank (on acts like avicii, bassnectar, aoki, or <cough> skrillex). another reason i could see roo doing this- NOBODY would see it coming, and roo looooooves to surprise us with the unexpected.
i know its a long shot, but i think itd be quacking amazing so im gonna push for it
anybody have any thoughts? id love to hear what other people think. this would be the coolest thing ever in my opinion, but im sure some people will find problems with it
It's like, if I hand you a sandwich and am all "hey man, have a bit of this delicious ham sandwich," and then you take a bite and hand it back and are all "I'm disappointed, I was hoping for a turkey sandwich," you'd be insane
i think my themed tent would just be a 5 hour block on the schedule titled "Brainfeeder Live" featuring the likes of Flying Lotus, Teebs, Tokimonsta, Austin Peralta, Daedelus, and Thundercat doing DJ battles with various live instrumentation and some guest vocalists which would include Thom Yorke, Gavin Turek, Suzi Analogue, and Gonja Sufi.
this is clearly the best possible option. saturday night, with Radiohead headlining
Thundercat Teebs Samiyam Tokimonsta Daedelus --- RADIOHEAD HL --- The Gaslamp Killer (LN) Flying Lotus ft. Thundercat (on bass) w/ special guest appearances from Thom Yorke, Gonjasufi and maybe some of those other vocal artists you said that Im not familiar with (LN)

Haven't been listening to as much FlyLo lately cause I've been checking out other unknown artists for Roo but now that the schedule is out that part is pretty much over and now it's just time to get excited. Been bumping FlyLo all night tonight on full blast getting so pumped

Tonight's Radiohead sound check included the never before played Full Stop, Subterranean Homesick Alien, Dollars and Cents, and Packt Like Sardines. Methinks they are auditioning Idioteques replacement as main set closer.
Either that, or they're rehearsing them all for roo.

I think you're confusing your two favorite threads.

Oooooops
And ya, they've been closing the main set with it a lot, or closing the whole show with it sometimes. At least on this tour.
Tore the roof off that motherfucker. Shoulda went all night, though. Still, part of the amazing experience was FlyLo himself. Knowing what kind of guy he is, the way I translated the look on his face the whole show was that he was blown away by the opportunity to play for a bunch of crazy music fanatics on a farm in the middle of nowhere at 3 AM
This man needs no visuals. Seen him 3 times this year (with and without his light show) and he kills regardless. Has been and will probably always be my favorite beat maker, period. Ol' Skrilley should have taken note, this is how a REAL a fucking DJ does it.
