I went in 2008 whenever the festival was significantly smaller, but they still had some killer acts even then such as Bad Brains, Kool Keith, Chuck Ragan, Atmosphere, The National, Bouncing Souls, et al... I was living in Austin at the time, and having just moved there I went by myself. Still had the time of my life, and I wish more festivals were like it. Unfortunately, due to work/school schedules and moving again, I haven't been able to go since that first time. Definitely go if you can.

Fun Fun Fun looks very likely.
I am thinking of skipping ACL and going this route, I could do both though.
Also, this years venue is right by the river and has a great view of downtown. Hopefully, it is utilized correctly and not as stupid packed as the strokes at sxsw show this year. I did like the waterloo venue.
i am going to try my hardest to be at this. i don't think i'll be able to take that friday off from work, now that they've made it a full day. i am going to wait until september and buy saturday/sunday passes probably.
i enjoy the lineup, but the three day passes are only like 40 dollars less than my ACL ticket, which kind of seems like a lot.

Funfest always does a ridiculous job on diversity, I just hope the new location is setup well. Waterloo was an awesome venue for the samll size that it was, but I expect the fest to be bigger this year.
I hope it's not nearly as crowded as The free Strokes show was at auditorium shores during sxsw this year. That was completely retarded and I could barely see anything.
I don't think this reflects the new additions, but here was the poster.
Regular tickets were $161 with tax, I think student is sold out which was $131. Kinda wish I would have done vip, but oh well.

I don't think I'lll be able to make it Friday, but I still get a chance to see Spoon, Lykke Li, Girls, M83, Tinariwen, tUnE-yArDs, Major Lazor, Neon Indian, Dan Deacon, Rakim, T Bird and The Breaks, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, The Budos Band, Black Lips, Odd Future, Flying Lotus, and lots more.
Plus, the aftershows are all free with a wristband.

I've been waiting for a chance to catch tUnE-yArDs live, so Merrill is my # 1. Lykke Li, Tinariwen, Fly Lo, and Black Lips are all sets I'm looking forward to. Budos was really good at Waka and I always enjoy Black Joe Lewis and T Bird and The Breaks whenever & wherever I see them.
Hopefully I can work it out where I get to attend Friday because Omar Souleyman and Ocote Soul Sounds would probably be two highlights of the weekend for me. Plus, Reggie Watts is performing that night.
Late nights are free with wristbands, so I may try and catch Felice Brothers, Kool Keith, and the Neon Indian DJ set, depending on what other shows may be scheduled in Austin that aren't affiliated with FFFF6.

I haven't really done much research this year for the bands I'm not familiar with this time around. I hope the layout is easy to navigate like it has been the other years. My plan is to discover new music and go with my instincts this year.

Seems like things could get really crowded in the space between the events center and Lady Bird (Town) Lake's shores. The skyline as a backdrop for the Orange Stage will be sweet.
edit: rideincircles, if you haven't already found it, the FFF6 app has a map of the layout.
