We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Lucky man! Good for you. But yes, Druid, I have no power! Snow pummeled us while we were at Moog! The town is 93% without power and not supposed to regain until Sunday supposedly. This is one way to clean out the fridge and freezer! And boy is it cold sleeping at night!

Jesus. I had to deal with that after the hurricane but it was a lot warmer. Fingers crossed for today.

Buffalo had an October storm in 2006. We've had snowstorms where 7ft was dumped over the area in a few days, but I have never seen damage like this. Trees down everywhere because the leaves were still on them and actually green mostly, power out for weeks. It was our senior "toga" day, so I walked home in my shorts (day started out 60 degrees) and my bed sheet, and it had just started snowing. Weird, weird day. School was cancelled for a week and a half.
Jesus. Yeah, it's ridiculous. We've had various people staying with us over the course of the week, since pretty much everybody is out of luck until Sunday. This storm is one of the craziest things I've ever seen - the amount of damage is incredible.
That's nice of you to bring people in! One person (out of 17) in my office has power and he said he's had 3 squatters since Sunday staying with his family.
My Danbury friend's family has 4 cars. Fallen trees totaled 3 of them.
3 cars totaled? Oye! Poor people. Apparently, a tree fell on my car over the weekend. Small enough to not do any real damage, but big enough to need a chain saw to remove. So I am a-ok.
Like Juggs said, the damage is incredible. I have never seen so much damage from snow. My road is only two blocks long and there are three power lines hanging low in the street, one actually lying on the street and many trees, branches etc. I could be much worse though. The car is fine and both my jobs have power so I spend from 8:30 AM until 11:00 PM with heat, lights and access to outlets to charge my phone and such.
What makes me a little depressed is the trees at my day job. Trinity College is a GORGEOUSSSS campus and besides the architecture, I think the trees are really what does it. Trees are down everywhere including in our quad. The elms create a "T" and is the center of a lot of things- the class matriculates and graduates under the elms and the lyrics to the alma mater is "Neath the Elms" and was written in the late 1800s (school was founded in 1823). 3 of the trees are completely uprooted and countless large branches are gone. I am scared to see what it'll look like all cleaned up! (Plus, a few trees have died recently due to an elm disease). This is what it's supposed to look like:
(T is the left of "skypic" right under the chapel)

About two weeks ago, a car crashed into a tree down the road, which fell into a power line.
That caused a power outage of about four hours - longer than those from the snowstorm and Irene combined. Unless I'm missing some details about Saturday, which happens a lot since my parents don't tell me worthwhile shit.
I hate these days. The cell phone and computer reads one thing everything else another. The worst is the car stereo. About the time I change it .. It'll be time to go back.

Just wanna say I'm really enjoying the offseason on these boards. Kind of dreading the onslaught of idiot newbs that will be coming within the next 6 weeks.
