The restaurant is closed. But you can still get a cinnamon roll.
Speaking of which, does anyone know any restaurants in that part of Atlanta that has a patio and doesn't have their head up their ass with masks and distancing? Looking at you 10goldbees. I figure with the seven hour round trip plus whatever we spend in the store, we might have to eat at some point.
I can't comment on the head-up-the-ass element here but I can tell you a few places that have pretty good patios!
Fancy/trendy: 8arm, Staplehouse, Little Bear, Leon's
More chill/neighborhood vibes: Cypress Street Pint & Plate, Wood's Chapel BBQ, Buteco, Victory Sandwich Bar, El Tesoro
Supremo Taco & Glide Pizza are walk-up windows with great food and a little place to stand and eat your meal.
There are a few places that are known for their patios that I would avoid based on my assessment either of the owners, the clientele, or just generally being bad restaurants: Ladybird, Muchacho, 9 Mile Station, Barcelona, Bar Taco
Little Bear has, I believe, done the best of just about any restaurant with the pandemic. It's on a block with a bunch of other restaurants in case someone in the car wants something else. It shares a patio with Wood's Chapel and Little Tart, my favorite bakery, is right across the street. And it's right by the highway and there's plenty of parking.
i wonder how r thomas is handling it? they are already in this weird tent and there are birds everywhere.
if you haven't been r thomas is super crunchy and is open 24 hours (edit, just checked and they have reduced hours due to covid, still open late on weekends though). consistent post-show stop whenever i'm in atlanta. saw andre 3000 there one time after a phish show.

Thanks guys. It's just the ladyfriend and I, and she is pretty flexible on food. She is from the Atlanta area originally but hasn't lived there in about 18 years. The R Thomas mention gave her some solid nostalgia for some late night visits back in her younger years.

I adore R. Thomas but do some research before you go. All the seating is on a covered patio but it's closed in with semi-permanent vinyl siding. I would assume they've taken the siding down since the pandemic started but it's worth a call.

That was her concern as well. She found a picture from the last time she went there for a baby shower, and the setup appears to be the kind of event tent that is popping up around here that we refer to as plague tents. With it being December, we thought it was pretty likely the sides would be down because that's what everyone around here is doing.

One would hope!
Sorry. I mean down like the tent is enclosed on all four sides. My fave brewery in Knoxville currently has like 3/4 of their patio taken up with one, and I refuse to hang out in it.

I love that your ladyfriend is on board with safety, that's hot. Also, I'm totally calling those "plague tents" from now on. They're unfortunately very common here too.

Gotcha and strong agree. They seem like death traps imo because at least air would recycle if you have central air. You're just hot boxin' covid in those temporary tents.

Victory! I think that's my favorite place in Atl.
Same here. It's so, so good. Give Ticonderoga Club in Krog Street Market a try the next time you're here. It's slightly fancier and the drinks are just as good, if not better.

For sure. I think I covered it somewhere, but it was actually a pre-first date topic from both ends. Both of us have been pretty strict with things this year, and if we were gonna open up the bubble, it was not gonna be for someone who had been quarter assing it all year. It has made things interesting. We ate next to a fire outdoors at a brewery a week or so ago when it was effing cold outside bc we were not hanging out indoors.
Apparently you can maybe do anything you want in the Idaho section of Yellowstone because no one lives there and it would be impossible to assemble a jury. The District of Wyoming includes land in Idaho and Montana, and the language in the 6th Amendment says that a person be tried by a jury from both the state AND district where the crime was committed, and no one meets that criteria in that section, whereas a few people do live in the overlap with Montana, so the loophole doesn't apply there.
I'm sure they'd figure something out, but it's an interesting bit of trivia.
Yeah, this was interesting in 2016...but not actually plausible based on location and if premeditated, immediately tosses the idea iirc. Although I get my legal advice from Dr. Joe so...
But tbh, if the government wants to fuck you they’re going to fuck you; no gimmicky loophole will slow them down.
This is very interesting, but it’s bullshit. Idaho has criminal jurisdiction over state law crimes, including murder, and can prosecute them even if it happened in a federal park that falls within Idaho’s state lines.
This girl I know who talks about herself way too much just started off her Instagram post with “Worth the read” and went on a soapbox. It bothered me way more than it should have

At trivia tonight, I asked which state various music festivals takes place in. Everyone knew where Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Hangout were, nobody knew Lollapalooza, and one guy answered Massachusetts because he thought I said Boston City Limits
