I just activated my new iPhone 4S. I now know it feels like to have a reason to get up in the morning. God bless this little gadget.
Watch out. First it's the phone. Then it needs apps, a carrying case, and a screen protector. Soon, it wants a Mac to hook up with. Then it needs an iPad to pal around town with.

B!tch is needier than any female.
I bought a case because I have broken every phone I've ever owned, and I would like this one to make it at least a couple months before I inevitably do something stupid and damage it.
And I'm a PC guy, always will be. This just happens to be the only Apple product I think is genuinely better than similar products. And I've had a crappy blackberry curves for like 3 years. Compared to that phone, any phone would be awesome.
YUCK! I hope you get out of there soon. In the meantime, you can go harass Wolfman Jess in the Board Member of the Month thread. Or learn about how breast milk can cure pink eye in the GRRRRR thread.
The woman I'm talking about is one of my town's recall volunteers, who I have known for all of two weeks. She has brought in signatures from the majority of her hundred-plus unit apartment complex, and is probably a top-five signature deliverer in this town... but her car broke down sometime since it began, so I've been dropping in on her every second or third day to pick up completed petition sheets and drop off new ones. She's still working on the rest of her neighborhood who hasn't signed without the car. I've tried to keep it professional, even though there's no actual employment involved. I'm also walking that fine line of not wanting to jeopardize off-putting such a productive volunteer, either. But I stopped by the other night for what was intended to be a 5-10 minute petition rehabilitation (correcting mistakes to prevent legal challenges, which has to be done by the petition circulator i.e. her) visit a couple nights ago and wound up staying and chatting for four or five hours. So yeah, there's a few weird circumstances I'm trying to work around.
I have met her son, who's about five years old, on two or three occasions. He was quick to point out our names start with the same letter and already refers to me as one of his mom's friends. When I stopped by to pick up petitions a couple days ago, he had a flyer for LegoLand and asked if I could take he and his mother there. That made for a bit of an awkward moment. I told him his mother and I were very busy working on an important project until after Christmas, but we would see. That was the afternoon before the night I stopped by for the lengthy petition rehabilitation turned social call.
A friend of mine who is dating a single mother told me to make sure I locked the bathroom door when I got up to pee in the middle of the night. Not sure how much that helps me in this situation, but I'm sure it's worth passing along.
Well I come from the other side as a single dad with kids who dates. Really though just be honest with the kid, and you should not have a problem. I do not think you are the kind of person that would have a problem with a kidelope though.
As the "kid" of a single mother, my best advice would be to understand that they are a package deal. I understand that it's important to have some alone time with the mom, but I would suggest trying to include the kid every third date/outing or so.
Yeah, I haven't gotten into anything like this before. I've never encountered this situation, perhaps in part because the I've only had younger girlfriends and that age gap has grown progressively wider with time. I don't know her exact age because I haven't asked, but I know she was a young adult in Seattle around the heyday of grunge so she's probably got five years on me. Yet another new thing to encounter.
All I really have time for these days is collecting signatures. Damn these unexpected distractions...
Thank you ESPN for the Saturday morning English Premier League games. It makes getting up too early on the weekend with a two-year old so much sweeter...
Good afternoon pals! I just finished a killer online presentation and thought I'd pop in to see what's up. I see Chico did the same the other day. I can't even remember when I was last here. Maybe right after the last Roo?
I just paid a speeding ticket online and registered for defensive driving to keep it off my record. Oh joy. Now I am going to pick up the wee one.
Tell me about it. I'm about to hit the 2 year mark and I hate it.
Manwhoring... it's the only answer.
I haven't been unemployed, but I did upgrade jobs last year. It took forever to get another job, and I hate interviews. They're so incredibly uncomfortable for me.
I just stopped looking honestly. I decided this might a good time to go back to school and finish what I started some 20 odd years ago. I've got another year and a half before I get back into the real world.
