oh, and my stepdad, who's old as hell, almost dropped my box full of my record player & vinyls. as he stumbled my inner self screamed "NOOOO NOT MY LIMITED EDITION JACK WHITE AT BONNAROO VINYL!!!!!" when I should have cared more about him almost falling down....
How old is this old as hell stepdad? Trying to get a reference.
uhm... I would have to say it's about late 70's now. 78? he's about 17 years older than my mom.
just moved my nicer pieces of furniture that I'm keeping into my mom's car for storage. (my richmond apartment is fully furnished) my apartment is now half empty and shizz is getting REALLLLL.
Nice. I'm in full on pack mode as well. Truck rental isn't until Tuesday, but I also have a dentist appointment on Monday. So pretty much down to today and tomorrow to finish. Making good headway though!
I'm blasting music, while in just my boxers and sandals. It's hot, and not trying to have a crazy electric bill from my AC, so boxers and fans on high it is!

wait. where are you moving??
My lease was up on my apartment, and didn't want to sign another 9 month lease (shortest offered). So I'm moving in with my parents for a few months while I save a bit of cash for my move to CO.
My parents are in Wimberley, which is in between Austin and San Antonio. But due to my job, I'll be there less than half the time.

Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
I'm using a script that pulls the top 3 genre tags for an artist form their last.fm page. some of my observations:
for one blur album, I got "albums I own" pretty much any female or female fronted band has "female ____" attached. the weather station is "candadian female" edit: Alanis, on the other hand, is just "female vocalist." only some candian females are labeled as such. pretty much everything is "indie" beck's sea change returned "adult contemporary" four tet is "techno" hot chip is "house" beats antique is "tribal dubstep" which, I guess works? sorta?
it's an exercise in finding the middle ground between esoteric and generic descriptors. and it's really all for no other reason than because I compulsively need that column on my media player to be filled. I could have been so much more productive than this today. but the original plan was to be visiting the in-laws anyway (before SW just up and cancelled our flight).
also, I had two cups of coffee this morning, the roomates are napping or shopping, and I just poured myself another tequila sunrise. I blame Miffy/Sab for that.
I need to try to watch John Oliver's show, but I cannot stand Bill Maher.
Love John Oliver (you really should be watching his show!), but I cannot do Bill Maher. He's just too much.
I don't know much about Oliver (I only really watched Stewart when other people had it on), but I'm in agreement with you guys on Maher. When I was younger I found him funny - and sometimes I still do - but he's also an arrogant prick. Everyone's entitled to their views and I agree with a lot of his, but sometimes you just gotta live and let live. He shoves his beliefs down people's throats more than a lot of the people he criticizes.

I've spent the day helping her and her family set up the baby shower for my son. Looking around the room, i realized he already has such a strong support network established. I'm twenty seven and when I'm not elated, I'm terrified.

I'm elated and terrified
I think that sounds about spot on for a new Dad. Congratulations

we met up with my bf's mom for dinner last night so she could give me my birthday gift. she does some art in her free time, and drew/framed a portrait of my puppy who passed away a few months ago. you guys, i burst into tears at the restaurant when i opened it. so unbelievably thoughtful and beautiful.

That's a good thing actually. i never had much to do with babies until last year in any capacity, much less a care taker. I was petrified when someone handed me a baby. Literally petrified. It goes way quick. You don't have a lot of time to be scared. There are bottles to be made and naps to take.
Just stock up on sleep. Honestly, the first three months were the hardest. It's pretty smooth now some 9 months in. They are pretty independent and have an easy temperament. I hope you have the same scenario.
Congrats, man. People told me how life changing having a baby is and I just nodded. I never understood till it was here.

Wait, is Bill Maher your kid?
Be thankful he still has it together enough to use the internet. Don't give him crap about quoting the right post. At least he's quoting things now.
Edit: 's no quote response right before me is gold considering my last sentence.

I feel like even Dave Maynar can agree while my guitar gently weeps is an objectively great quacking song.
I can't remember if you've been around enough to know that my supposed hatred of The Beatles is exaggerated immensely as part of a running joke. I don't hate them by any stretch. There are just many bands that I like a whole lot more. For some people, that is basically the equivalent of hating them though.

How embarrassing is it that I didn't know that was a Beetles' song?

Haha I thought about responding, "Eh. I don't like Santana that much.", but I figured people would throw things at me.
