I hate playing the waiting game. Suppose to hear back today if I have a 2nd interview for a position I am pretty excited for.
Just ready to know if I should start preparing for another interview or move on with the job hunt.
Never heard anything back today, which more than likely means I don't have an 2nd interview. I was told last week that they were conducting 2nd interviews with those that were selected at the end of this week, which I would imagine was scheduled today. Trying not to overreact and get too down, but the job search has about taken the life out of me.
We have a huge event every year to show recognition to the concierge and those in the service industry, the Silver Plume Award Ceremony. This year is a big one because it is our 25th Annual Silver Plume award ceremony.
I had no idea you were in the hospitality industry!
I was a server/bartender until 2006, have a degree in graphic design but now I work for Where magazine. We're a tourist magazine and we work closely with the hotels and concierge in the city. All those fancy meals I Snapchat are NOCA meeting/socials. If it wasn't for tourism and the hotels I wouldn't have a job. It's hard to live here and not be in the hospitality industry.

I live in a camper parked on my sister's driveway. I need to pee super bad but there's a hobo digging through our recycling just a few feet from me. I don't wanna step out and make it awkward for them but they're taking forever.
Beyond headphone comfort, replacing your ears with ear holes offers greater fidelity. The sound has a quicker path to your brain, as it doesn't have to slide around all your earflesh before finally entering the hearing hole.

I've had many a satisfying opportunity to reiterate my favorite Mitch Hedberg jokes recently. While talking to an employee about a re-seating issue earlier tonight during South Pacific, I could happily say, "...because in the words of Mitch Hedberg, 'If you're flammable and have legs, you're never blocking a fire exit.'"
Also on Sunday morning of Pitchfork, upon entering the train station I saw a stopped escalator and from a fundamental part of myself, yelled, "Temporarily stairs!" and proceeded to run up them.

"Because of LSD i now know that butter is way better than margarine. I saw through the bullshit."
^^^one of my favorites and most repeated.
to my knowledge hedberg was easily the best joke teller of the past 15 years or so. As much as I love the current form of story driven, confessional stand up comedy (which really hit its stride with Louis CK's "Shameless" in 2006, IMO), there is something magical about really good joke tellers.
Dave Attell comes to mind as a currently working joke teller, and I can't even think of another one right now.

Tig Notaro might be of interest to you.
i watched her doc on netflix which i thought was beautiful, but haven't listened to a lot of her stand up. i'll check it out.

Do it! She's great. Her latest special on HBO works fits nicely with the doc. Mainly because, you know, that's the material she was working on in the film.
For the brand of comedy you are looking for listen to anything pre-Live. Live is amazing and, I think, essential listening for just about everyone. But at the same time it is a half hour of a woman publicly reflecting on her own mortality. So if you want laughs just listen to the older stuff.

as long as we are talking about forms of comedy other than story driven/confessional, I highly recommend Todd Barry's "Crowd Work" special for any fan of comedy that hasn't seen it. As the name indicates its clips from an entire tour he did with zero material. It's definitely funny but also kind of awe-inspiring, at least for me, to see Todd Barry just riff on people in the crowd.

He is one of my absolute favorite comedians. That special is so great!

yeah i need to listen to some of his other specials, as I love him in everything he's in. That episode of Louie where he told the story of his road gig north of NYC is one of my favorite Louie episodes.
bookmarked for later reading because i need to get SOME chargeable work done today.
ok I had to read a little.
at restaurants when waiting for a table my wife and i always say "dufrane, party of 2" and "people are missing, who can eat at time like this" and its funny every single time.
