People using "literally" figuratively still bothers me. I know that languages change and blah blah blah and I agree with that but it just hurts my ears.

My dad doesn't work anymore, so he pretty much sits at home and orders things online and posts on facebook. Today he posted a pic of Masseduction vinyl. I thought maybe he got it for me, because he does that sometimes. I have no idea how he even knows who she is, I don't think I've told him about her, because it's not something he would like. Maybe he bought it because he likes the cover? I don't know how to feel about it.

I know this wasn’t really the point of your post, but - my stepdad doesn’t work anymore, so he also sits at home and orders things online, although he doesn’t post on Facebook. Apparently, he has recently taken to buying hats, and someone recently stopped him in the airport to tell him that he looked “very dapper” in his hat.

Haha he orders a bunch of music and shirts and other random things. This one is just so weird because he doesn't listen to any new music. Like, he'll listen to a new album by an old artist, but nothing new.

i'd be pretty happy with a retirement where i got really into buying hats and walking around airports.

I guess he went through a phase for a while of getting a bunch of different colors of pants too.
The only music I’ve ever known my stepdad to listen to was Jimmy Buffett, Harry Chapin, and Taylor Swift. It would be very weird to me if he was buying random music, especially new music.

I hate when people say "I saw it with my own eyes!" Who else's eyes are you going to fucking see it with? You don't say you felt it with your own hands. What the actual fuck? Just talking about it pisses me off apparently.
Part of his rules is that he has to drink from every bottle. Now that's how I wanna retire.
That's fucking wacky and I love it. That's what I want to do - find something certifiably oddball that I would be super juiced to collect.
When he retired, he decided to build motorcycles, and held the land speed records for 1 and 1.5 miles on a n/a bike. Eventually he crashed and broke his back, so a new hobby had to be found

that's badass. i grew up in a household of detroit car mechanics, so I grew up wrenching on things to make go faster.
unfortunately my motorcycle has been parked in a corner of the garage since my wife got pregnant like, 6 years ago. i'm not allowed to ride again until both our children are 18.

My dad had an old Honda in the shed for a long time, and that was my mothers rule as well. He had to give it up once he had kids, but he could never get himself to sell it.

It's hard for us babies born on the computers and the interwebz.
Think about it this way.. some of us have been writing LOL, LMAO, BRB since AIM existed in 1997. We are in 2017. That's 2/3 of my life. 2/3 of my life adding acronyms into our vocabulary

I didn't AIM, I did Yahoo chat and it was 1996. I am old though so it was only 1/2 my life (actually less than 1/2 since I was 20 in '96 and I am turning 42 on the 29th).
