i avoid looking at my clock if i wake up, hell the clock next to my bed is like an hour and fifteen min off or something. that makes it a little better for me

I snapped on someone for doing that to me over the weekend. It is seriously the worst thing that can happen involving sleep. When it happens, I just stay up because that little time spent going back to sleep is awful
The past two nights I have been sucked in by movies on tv. First it was Almost Famous, then it was The Bourne Supremacy. I had to stay up and watch til the very end. And endure stupid commercials. And I own both movies.

I usually do this, and than hit the pillow for the remaining 40 minutes before my alarm. The past month I have been getting out of bed when I wake up initially. I thought I would be tired because of lack of sleep, but I really have been feeling better and more upbeat during the day.

I hate this. I rarely ever sleep until my alarm and I really wish I could. I usually am woken up an hour or so before I need to/want to get up and then it's just a game of "can I get any more rest or will I roll around and get super comfy RIGHT when my alarm goes off?"
I plan on coming home from work today and just going to sleep.

I hate this so much! The guy I am dating wakes me up on purpose sometimes at whatever ungodly hour he wakes up. Annoys the shit out of me...sometimes.

I used to be REALLY bad about this. What I did:
Excercise daily, even just a little Drink sleepy time tea 30 minutes before bed Go to bed and wake up at the same exact time for at least 2 weeks. Longer if possible
And here's the hardest part:
Don't hit the snooze button, like ever. I have a 2 alarm system now that works well for me.

They are probably that weird breed of morning people. I personally am better at night than the morning. Even if I go to bed early, I am still not good in the morning. I hate people that are all fresh and whatever in the morning. When my kid was like 3-4, I bartended at night, he would come into my room at dawn and tell me the sun was up, it was time to get up. I would have like 3 hours of sleep at this point. There was no sending him back to bed, you just get up, make breakfast, pull out the toys and the movies and sleep on the couch while they play. I never understood how he could be like that.

I'll set my alarm to give me the absolute least amount of time I need to get up, get dressed and out the door when I have to work super early (I work at 5am a lot). There is no back-up alarm. If I snooze through that one alarm, I'm screwed.

Put the alarm/phone on a shelf or dresser that makes you get up out of bed to actually turn it off.

My job turned me from a night owl to a morning person. I kinda hate it because all my friends can stay up all night no problems! While I'm in the corner fighting to stay awake as soon as it gets dark out.
I did make it to 4am over the weekend though. Everyone was really proud of me.
Edit: None of that's helpful.... I just kinda wanted to brag about how late I stayed up. Because I never get to stay up that late on a weekend. Sorry.

omg. during christmas & new years my office was closed wed-fri both weeks, so I picked up a bunch of extra shifts at my serving job. it completely flip-flopped my schedule in less than 2 weeks. the first full week back at my office was miserable - I was totally unable to fall asleep before 3am every night.
I also don't like routine, so it makes me even more cranky about having to get up early at the same time every day. apparently I'm just not cut out for this daytime shit! haha

Being that I have a degree in graphic design, I haven't gone back to the service industry for like 5 years now, and do side jobs to make extra money (easier, faster, same amount of money), so I haven't had that issue. Plus, you know I have a kid, so even in the service industry I was forced to get up in the mornings and get him ready/take him to school. Now, my alarm goes off when he should be awake. I yell at him to make sure he is indeed awake, and then go back to sleep for about 30 mins... or actually lay in bed pretending to sleep. I still feel like I am not cut out for daytime shifts. I am not really awake until after 2 cups of coffee (translates to 10am at work), but luckily I do have a job that I don't have to be to until 9am too. I hate mornings.
