I know it seems strange to post about a festival negatively to START a thread but...
Having been a HUGE fan of my local fall festival, Big Spring Jam, in Huntsville for MANY years this year I have to just say to anyone even remotely thinking about it....don't.
They stopped having the festival in the large park downtown right between the Civic Center and Museum of Art last year because it was losing money (even with nearly a half million in attendance every year ) AND construction going on around the park. They brought it back primarily because of pressure from fans, but have totally GUTTED it. Cut back to two days instead of three (FRI and SAT) AND putting the major headliners inside...in the Civic Center where you have to pay EXTRA to see them. Not that it's an issue cause I would NEVER pay to see Alan Jackson or Sister Hazel but.....sigh. I would just as soon they didn't even try to revive it if this is the best they can do....
I hope seeing them this year won't tarnish your good memories of the past. This festival used to be a decent festival, especially for the size of the area population. It used to be a HUGE introduction for alt/indie rock bands like Evans Blue, Shine Down, Crossfade, Flyleaf etc....this was one of ALL of their first major festies. Heck, even in 2009 they had Black Crowes, Collective Soul, Cage the Elephant, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Silversun Pickups.....THAT is what I want and expect from this festival...cutting edge new groups and well they will ALWAYS have some big country acts since we are like 90 miles from Nashville. But really...Incubus is the ONLY thing they can come up with? I just think they should not even bother....

I mean, I'm not even looking at this like its a festival. I'm looking at this like it's an Incubus concert 10 minutes from my house. I mean, $30 for the day pass is probably cheaper than they would charge for one of their one off shows at some amphitheater.
But yeah, I saw the Crowes in 05 and Nickel Creek in 06. Cowboy Mouth put on great shows in 03 and 06. Collective Soul was meh. Silversun Pickups were great.
