I posted this in Bands and Shows, but I figured I would put it here so more people would see it.
Lightning100 out of Nashville is holding a contest to pick the name of the new music venue in Marathon Village. The building is the former site of Marathon Motor Works, so I submitted Marathon Music Works.
Well, I am in the final three and if I win, I get two free tickets to every show for a year.
The top three are:
Marathon Music Works The Pink Elephant (WTF?) Motorworks Live
Obvioulsy my name is the best choice!!
So head over to lightning100.com/ and scroll down about halfway on the main page. You have to give them your name and email address and they email you a link to vote. You can only vote once (per email address!!) and voting ends at midnight tonight.
If you vote for the winning name (My name of course) you will win two free tickets to the show of your choice.
Thanks everyone!!!

Remember that forthcoming mid-sized venue in Marathon Village we told you about last week? It's the one operated by Exit/In's Josh Billue, Sell Out Presents' Chris Cobb and Special Events Plus' Telisha Arguelles Cobb. Well, the space remains unnamed, but they've narrowed the nominees down to the following three:
Marathon Music Works The Pink Elephant Motorworks Live
I don't want to tilt the scales here or anything, but I'll just say this: One of the above names, to me, sounds like a NASCAR event space, one reminds me of a statue at a car dealership on Charlotte Pike, and one sounds like a music venue. Again, that's just me. You see, back in the early 20th century, the space was the Marathon Motor Works building, so I can certainly see the appeal of referencing a bit of history in the name.
Shuffle over to Lightning 100's site to vote for your favorite of the three names. According to the site, "Everyone who votes on the winning name will receive (2) additional tickets to the show of their choice in the next year." Vote only once; voting's up at midnight on Aug. 11, and the winner will be announced on Lightning 100 the following day. If you want to contact the folks at Marathon Music Works/The Pink Elephant/Motorworks Live, you can hit them at neweventspace[at]gmail[dot]com.
You’ve probably heard by now that there is a new mid-sized music venue opening in Nashville. Well, the name is still undecided, and the owners are letting Nashvillians make the final determination. The owners ran a contest via Lightning 100 to come up with a name for the new venue (the ultimate winner will get 2 free tickets to every show for a year). The choices have been narrowed down to three finalists.
The Pink Elephant Motorworks Live Marathon Music Works
The good folks over at Nashville Cream argue that their is only one good choice amongst those finalist, and I agree with them. The building used to be occupied by Marathon Motor Works, so, Marathon Music Works is the obvious choice to keep a little bit of Nashville history alive.
Whether you agree with me and The Cream or not, you should head over to Lightning 100 to vote. Voting ends at 11:59pm on Thursday 8/11, and everyone who votes (read: gives their email address) will receive two tickets to an upcoming show of their choice in the next year. That’s reason enough!

EDIT: Went back and read, nope.
Enter your information below and you will receive your ballot, via email, to vote on your favorite venue name! You can only vote once, so make it count!

I know that would be so cool! Cheryl and I were talking about it last night and I said that the years tickets will be too cool!!! But being able to say that I named it is bigger in the grand scheme of things. That name will last far longer than the years worth of tickets!!!

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Also do not forget I am friends with the people who own a bar and distillery across the hall.
