I'm not sure if any of you have seen this, but Wilco is doing an interactive video project on their upcoming tour. They're asking fans in cities where they'll be playing to shoot some footage of their hometown, and if it's good enough, they'll project it behind them during the show. I think this is a really cool idea, and in a way it reminds me a little bit of Arcade Fire's HTML5 video for "We Used to Wait". So time to bust out them video cameras, people!

Laggy, you'll be spending the rest of your weekend in amazement. There are lots of great albums, I'd start with Sky Blue Sky, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Being There and Ashes of American Flags. Just my opinion.
^^listen to this man, Laggy. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is a great place to start out with Wilco - the general consensus among most fans is that it's their strongest effort, and it ranked in the top five of both Rolling Stone's and Pitchfork's 'best albums of the 2000s' lists.
Also, stylistically speaking, Wilco has a very diverse catalogue that runs the gamut from alternative to noise rock to acoustic indie to folk to country to pop - so if one thing doesn't strike your fancy right away, keep trying. In addition to the albums listed above, I'm also going to throw in some recommendations for Summerteeth and their live double album, Kicking Television. Basically, the only albums I wouldn't recommend starting with are A.M. (which is far more country-sounding than anything they do these days) and Wilco (The Album), which was a decent enough collection of songs but didn't really feel like it was as much of a cohesive album.
But yeah, YHF FTW.

My friend posted these videos on facebook and I thought you guys might get as much of a kick out of it as I did. Apparently at a book launch party Jeff Tweedy did a solo set entirely of black eyed peas songs, pretty much just mocking them and tearing them apart. and it's pretty funny.
edit: left this one out. It's potentially the best
Been waiting for a consistently good LP from Wilco for like 10 years and after a couple of listens, I think they MIGHT have delivered. Without a doubt the most consistent since YHF and the best batch of songs since AGIB.

Jeff is the shit. Those videos are great. There are a couple of good ones out there of him bashing on jerk offs at a couple of smaller shows too. If I come across them again I'll post them here.

So I saw Wilco last night at Massey Hall, and they are absolutely on fire right now. The new songs ripped, and they played Via Chicago and Poor Places which are my two favorite songs of theirs. Picked up this poster as well,
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Yea we got a totally different set. The band was looser, better crowd, different poster. It was definitely worth it to go to both nights.

Like you Laggy, I have never listened to Wilco before, but after they were in the Jumble(word game found in the news paper), the guy in the cartoon was wearing a Wilco shirt, the other day, I am thinking I need to check them out. Well, the Jumble did not do that, but this thread has me interested.
