I think smurf is acceptable for d i c k but I think we could do much better. Actually, even though it would get annoying fast it would be kind of funny if every profanity filter were changed to smurf
I dont know why there is a filter at all. Is there 8 year olds on the board I dont know about? Everyone on here is adult or pretty close to it. It is not like I want to use profanities on the board every post or over use the words. I feel mostly everyone on here feels the same way. A lot of the music we talk about in the board uses profanity but for some reason we cant. I say get rid of the filter all together. It doesnt bother me that much but it seems pretty useless IMO.

I agree that the profanity filter is one of my least favorite parts of this board. It's not like I want to go around cursing like a sailor, I just don't want to be treated like a child. And plenty of these words have legitimates uses too. I can only think of a very small handful of words that I could understand being censored:

The argument that I've heard for the profanity filter, which I find acceptable, is that many people on these boards access the board at their workplace. And many workplaces filter and ban sites with profane language. So the filter is so people can waste time at work on this message board. I think that's fair.

I've got to agree with laggy on this one. It seems to me that poop should be filtered and shit should be the substitute. Poop sounds dirty AND funny. It's the best of both worlds.
