97-99 was a cultural black hole for music. Some absolutely horrid stuff on the radio and on the "alternative" charts.
There were great albums, but it was pretty bad mostly.
I have to agree with Nodep..Matchbox 20 was allowed on radio around 97. Remember when Filter was all hard on the "Short Bus" album, and then they were all like "I want to take your picture?" WTH man. That is worse than a Kid Rock Cheryl Crow Duet.
