Is it sad that I don't care either way? Flaming Lips have become a big bunch of meh to me over the years.
People love them and thats awesome as there are worse bands to love. But for me personally the only way to get me back to a FL show is a Soft Bulletin set or a colab with Lightning Bolt. One of the two.
I'd be stoked for the people that want them though.

I'd like for them to be at Bonnaroo, because it would be the first live FLips experience for a lot of people. And a show like that is pretty much a definitive Roo moment. If not this year, they'd definitely be due back by next year.
It'd be my 4th FLips show, though. So I'd probably skip it unless it was a Soft Bulletin set.
Give them a latenight set and the people will come. I haven't seen them since I saw them twice in 2008 so I'd imagine the show has changed at least a little. Also in Canada they get about half the response and excitement from the crowd as they do in the US so I'd love to see them south of the boarder.

They got a pretty solid response from 25,000 plus when they headlined Osheaga here in Montreal a month ago. Mind you it was a Soft Bulletin show. Maybe it's an east coast west coast Canadian divide on them.

Saw them at least 20 times in 20 years, and last Saturday night at Sound Town was one of the best shows yet! They have been on a major hot streak lately IMO
I will never miss the Lips anywhere I am, if I can help it. If they book them, I will come

Screw Soft Bulletin show, I want an acid rock revival heavy on Clouds Taste Metallic, In A Priest Driven Ambulance, and everything in between. That's the Lips I love.

I hate it when bands ignore their old Priest Driven Ambulance shit when its really their best crazy heavy shit and they say things like it just doesn't translate well. They should be doing "there you are," "the jets" and God walks among us now" every goddamn night.

MMJ doesn't like playing their earlier stuff either. I think it has a lot to do with not writing the music with the guys who are currently touring with them.

I would never say no to the Flips. If they are there, I will most likely be there. They do take a high profile spot so there are some other acts I would probably choose at this point. But their shows are always a definitive Roo moment for a lot of people and I appreciate that.

If Bonnaroo nabs a couple of really expensive headliners for Friday and Saturday I could see them throwing the Sunday slot to the Flaming Lips. I think this becomes even more likely if they also secure huge stage LN`s.

Yeah, if the lineup was:
Pink Floyd | Talking Heads | David Bowie | Prince | The Flaming Lips
Maybe the FLips MIGHT headline sunday, with David Bowie playing Late Night after Talking Heads on Friday, and Prince playing Late Night after Pink Floyd on Saturday.
Unicorns might also fly out of my dick hole too.
The Flaming Lips aren't big enough to headline bonnaroo, and I am pretty sure they are perfectly aware / perfectly happy with this fact. Give them a 2 hour latenight set on the What Stage, say 1:30am til 3:30am, a $25,000 pyrotechnics budget, and ten 5 watt lasers; and Wayne Coyne would be happier than a pig in shit.

I've seem them 3 times, roo 07 and 10 plus Nashville in May, and I'll be seeing them again at Moogfest in October, but I still hope they're back! I would rather have a Yoshimi set than a Soft Bulletin set, although I know that's less likely and probably less popular. Also, I know it seems less likely, but I could see them in a Which pre-HL spot after dark like Primus and BS this year. That would be cool. Or pre-HL on What. That could be really neat!
