You don't really have to. Abra and I put a couple of blankets on the ground last year, and it worked out great.
That could work... the trick is to not think about the spiders while trying to fall asleep. Ha
Spiders can climb a cot too.
True story: I used to work at a rehab where part of the program slept in cabins. One of the staff out there woke up with a wood spider in his mouth one time. He freaked out just a little.

Yea I know they can... I was just trying to convince myself they wouldn't. Both me and my girlfriend have really intense arachnophobia and had a bad run in with a spider in the tent at Roo and at All Good last year. So this year we are trying to avoid that at all costs.
when I say intense arachnophobia I mean intense
I would shit myself if I woke up with one in my mouth

My granddad was like that due to some run-ins with huge spiders when he was stationed in Cuba in the 40s. I don't like them, but he would lose his mind over them.

We kept our stuff in the car primarily. The only thing that stayed out was the tent (for changing or rain emergency), the ez-up, chairs and the tarps. I've always gone light on decorations, so there's not much to steal.

This is why I will never do this. I understand I'm sleeping on their home but I still can't handle spiders. I usally try to make friends with my neighbor if my husband isn't with me and I need someone to remove the spiders from the side of my tent.
It's a very irrational fear and I just can't do it.
eh, he's new and doesnt realize we've had members from these boards die before. dont be too hard on him.
it sucks being to "new" to website about a festival that i've actually attended 9 times. talking about it must be more fun. and i'm sorry about your friend. that isnt funny. but the person who started this is. anyways...we must all laugh in the face of "death." your friend is probably way happier than we are.

Fixed.
We talk about a lot more than the festival. Take a look around.
