To answer the "What is Quack Club' question... It is when a bunch of Inforoosters get together in Warren, RI at the house above and have a blast! Last year the gathering was in August. This year we will combine it with NFF.
So basically it's an open invitation to Inforoosters to stay at the house for the weekend so you don't have to pay the outrageous lodging fees. We will have tons of food, plenty of booze, though we encourage folks to bring their specialties if its out of the norm. We'll post the list of what we have stocked before hand. And of course Quack Club is corn friendly.
Last year we did a big dinner on sat night. Not sure how this will play out with going to NFF. Maybe we will do dinner friday night - then crank up the grill for sat/sun. Breakfast is buffet style with plenty of Bacon!
There's plenty of sleep spaces indoors and out, long as you dont mind roughing it with air mattresses and bunking next to or with ?? There's room out back for tents as well if you desire.
Once we have a handle on the count of peeps, we will work out logistics or getting over to NFF and back.
That's quack club... ;D
Wow, this sounds almost too good to be true. So this is really an open invitation, even if I've never met any of you guys? I am driving up solo from PA, so not only would I be heavily indebted to you guys for offering a place to stay, the fact that I would be able to make friends beforehand, and have a bunch of cool ppl to chill with at the festival is mindboggling to me. My friends suck so I am used to doing shows solo, but festivals are so much better when you are not alone. You guys seem incredibly cool and gracious, its great to know there are ppl like you out there. I look forward to meeting everyone
As Bonz said... yes indeedy.
I have and will continue to caveat this with - if anyone is allergic to cats or turns out to be a summer's breeze, you are still welcome - but plan to sleep outside.
Seriously we have three cats that think they are dogs. I try my best to keep the house neat, clean, and welcoming - but if you have pet allergies - bring your meds.
Never thought I would host an event were we had 16 people at the house all weekend. Turned out to be one of the BEST weekends of my life, and we can not wait to do it again and meet more Roosters!
We will go with the majority once we start planning - but leaning heavily towards a drop off/pick up saturday - then into town to the pub.. with none of us driving. ;D
I love the idea of no one driving! And so I assume the above means taxi?
Not where I'm going with that thinking B... Think bigger..

We couldn't stop talking about how often can you stick 16 people together for an extended period of time and not one bad/catty/mean word was said. Amazing people!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I'll be at B'Roo VIP with some of you who are going to NFF. I might need to break out of my shell a little and start socializing with y'all, because now I really want to hit up NFF. I have a close friend whose brother lives in Newport, goes every year, and keeps telling us to come. This lineup might just get us there.
No but seriously, what's with the sitting at the shows? Like are there designated sitting/standing areas? I don't have a problem with people sitting up front for smaller shows, but if everyone up front is sitting for MMJ, I'm going to go into a folk fueled rage.
is the blues cafe walking distance from the festival?
more like swimming distance. Once you take the water taxi back into town the Blues Cafe is right there....across the street from the Newport Harbor Hotel where I'm staying. I'm booked it because of that...last year trying to get a cab late night was impossible.

It is a tradional festival. ton of older people who just come and set up camp with chairs/blankets on the mainstage and don't leave. I honestly hardly saw anyone on the mainstage last year. The smaller stages are where it is at...but there is a little PIT area in front of the main stage that you can make your way up to and stand. I wish they would make it a lot biggger. A few years ago when Wilco headlined the chairs and camps kind of cleared out once they got on and it opened up a little.

Good to know. Thanks. I understand that the older folks want to sit and set up camp and all that, but it just seems counter intuitive to me for that to happen up front.
In a word no. Based on last year at least not within the gates at the venues. We ate on the way from the car to the gates. Fort Adams is really big so outside the gates it's pretty easy to find a picnic area but the "Centeroo" is relatively small and patrolled. Not sure if there are any safe spots within the gates but no open munching that I saw anyway.

That's kinda what I figured. It's not a big deal. So are we allowed to come and go as we please from the "centeroo" area to the outside picnic areas? Or is it once you're inside you have to stay until you leave?

Coming and going to the venues area is a breeze. No hardcore searching or ball busting at the gates. You can take a stroll and be back in 20 minutes.
I would love to stay at Casa de Quack Club, but I gotta figure out if an old friend that I haven't seen in years is attending the fest or not. Of course if her and her S/O are going I'll will probably be staying with them. Either way, I'd def like to hang with you wild and crazy guys/gals at the fest. I've met quite a few Inforooers at Roo over the years, but not many of you guys. Looking forward to it.
