Not much parking on the riverfront. Easy to walk within a mile or two. I'm doing the KOA with a free shuttle though to save a few bucks.
Talk to me about this KOA, whoreshack.
It's kitschy. Baseball diamond, 1960's pool, 1970's bar w AC, a few vendors... school busses to & from the Park. We've camped there the past few years, it's not ideal but neither is Roo-camping. I believe it's about $75 per person to camp. Weather will be hot & humid by the river.
We went to Forecastle in 2010 and it was a blast! The late night shows are on a riverboat and are way too much fun - only downside is that you have to a purchase a separate ticket for these and they usually sell out pretty fast due to small capacity on the boat. It's kind of a different feel from other festivals in my opinion, though, because it's in the city and you're not camping onsite. However, we had a blast and will definitely be back this year after today's announcement!!!
For those asking about hotels, we stayed at The Brown Hotel. It was beautiful and historic and within a shuttle/cab ride to the festival. It's also famous - Elizabethtown was filmed there! They offered free shuttle rides for a limited time during the day, and they always had cabs waiting outside if you were outside the shuttle hours.
Seems like the majority of the MMJ board is staying at The Galt House. Looks a little fancy for my blood but it is close www.galthouse.com/
It totally is, it's considered the 'fancy' place to stay in Louisville. My stepaunt and uncle go for anniversaries.
The weather is about the same as Tennessee's- it will be HOT in July!
It's also totally easy to walk a lot of places downtown and I've never been harassed or felt uncomfortable in this city. My dad lives ~ an hour by interstate, so I'll probably be going, and crashing at his place!
Looks like being a Roll-Call member is going to pay off once again:
**IMPORTANT - We will be announcing some great VIP upgrades for ticket holders which will be made available to Roll Call members before anyone else. Keep an eye on your inbox as we will be sending this information to you once the packages are finalized. You will not be disappointed!
I think i might get a hotel but I'm not sure yet. I have a lab report and arch project due tomorrow morning. After that I will have a good 48 hours to dedicate to planning out Forecastle.

What I pulled up had spots for 6 people. There's always that option.

The new festival in Cincy, Bunbury Festival, is the same weekend also. If they do get some of the acts that they are rumored to be attempting to get I could see some crossover since it is right up the road.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
