Randy is amazing and has been for a long time. He just sometimes got a bit over-used. I actually like some of the wpisodes focusing on Kyle's dad like when he wants to be a dolphin or when he is an online troll or like the cheesing/cat piss episode I mentioned earlier. He's not used as much but has some big wins.
Still to this day Trapped in the Closet is one of my favorite episodes, second only to The Return of Chef. I mean that is probably wrong, but those two for me even after the rewatch, top choices.

I want another full fledged movie. I know they have the "event" things deal for Paramount Plus (which I still need to find and watch cuz I don't have Paramount) but I want another like the bigger, longer, uncut movie. Don't know what possible story they could do, though.
like the Coon trilogy and imagination land are really great and are fine as follow ups, all that's really missing is the musical numbers I guess
Yeah, I've loved the multi-part episodes like those that are basically a full movie. I just remember how much bigger the movie felt at the time but I guess it would be hard to top it. And also home viewing has almost reached the quality of movie theaters anyway. I started the paramount plus thing on fire stick but need to continue it.

I haven't watched it in a while, but the musical numbers are a big part of what made BLU so great for me. Blame Canada and the Kyle's Mom song obviously jump first to mind, but Up There is just classic Broadway too

Up there and the medley are incredible
but Kyle's mom did originate in the show
they did more songs early w chef and the Christmas episodes, but it seems like they just took that as an outlet and just moved it to actual Broadway
cheesing episode is excellent. randy at the end "you never even really get a good shot at her boobs" is such a killer throwaway line at the end of the episode
so I rewatched this today, what a cornerstone of TV
Kyle to the guys at school: I bet Kenny is at home cheesing right now

“What Would Brian Boitano Do?” is the first song that always comes to my mind when I think of the movie, and I love the punk version Trey and Matt did with their band DVDA!

I think it's totally because I am manipulated by the Book of Love song while viewing all the anime-style Tweek and Craig art but I tend to always love and be slightly moved by the Tweek and Craig episode. I'm up to that now (getting closer to the end of the re-watch).
It's also got a great exchange from Randy and Stan where this goes down. It's a classic Randy "trying not to seem dumb/out of touch" moment which are always the best:
Randy: Hey, bud. How's it hangin'? [sits on the bed next to Stan]
Stan: I'm confused, Dad. There was this thing at school.
Randy: Well, guess what? You've got a really progressive PC dad who knows all about this stuff, okay? Go ahead, ask me anything.
Stan: I just don't understand how it's decided.
Randy: Ah, well, you see, it's a combination of genetic, hormonal, and environmental influences.
Stan: No, I mean, like, what makes the Asians decide who they're gonna make gay?
Randy: [confused] The Asians? The Asians decide who's going to be gay? [feigns knowing, playing it off] Uh are y-, yeah, yeah they do. Uh, the Asians just, you know, the Asians pick who they pick, and um, it's al- it's, the way it's always been.
Stan: So you've heard of yaoi?
Randy: [embarrassed, playing it off] Yeah, of course. Yaoi, anal intercourse, Maui Zaui, I, I know all this stuff, Stan.
Plus all the fucking weird "Cupid Me" stuff with Cartman. So odd.

Hahaha, holy shit it is definitely the music manipulating me because I also remember loving the later "Say Something" song after they fake the break-up. So good. Ridiculous how overly serious they make this whole thing.

Almost done with the re-watch. Up to the later ManBearPig episodes and just got to the part where the kids convince Satan to fight ManBearPig. I fucking love that after Satan dies and the kids are all sad and tore up about it his soul/angel leaves his body and floats up to heaven. Like....Satan going to heaven is just silly enough to make me crack up.
25th season premiered last night. Can stream at southpark.cc.com
It was fun. Laughed a good bit when I started to realize what the bit was but then it felt a little played out by the end of the episode too. But either way, glad the best comedy series is back!
