They just released the dates for next year and its the same quacking weekend as Bonnaroo! So quacking pissed off right now as I had planned on attending both! This also means that you can pretty much count on Bonnaroo not getting any good electro/DJ acts since they will ALL be in quacking Vegas! FML!
Las Vegas, October 6, 2011 – After hosting more than 230,000 amazing fans during Electric Daisy Carnival, Las Vegas 2011, the world’s top musical and artistic talent will return to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS) for the 16th Annual Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) on June 8, 9 and 10, 2012.
“When Insomniac decided to produce EDC in Las Vegas last June, we knew we were working with the ideal venue but we weren’t sure how our fans would react,” said Insomniac President and CEO Pasquale Rotella. “But after seeing more than 230,000 people show up to enjoy our show we knew we picked a City and venue that serves as the perfect home for the largest electronic music festival in North America.” "We are thrilled to welcome the Electric Daisy Carnival back to Las Vegas and to Las Vegas Motor Speedway," said Chris Powell, president of LVMS. "EDC in 2011 provided a tremendous boost to our local economy. Additionally, the promoter of EDC, Insomniac, demonstrated that it operates a well-organized, safe and secure event. The people at Insomniac are proven professionals, and we're excited to work together to create an unforgettable EDC in 2012 here at LVMS." EDC Las Vegas will be presented in 2012 as a Las Vegas Signature Event. “Las Vegas Events is proud to add Electric Daisy Carnival to its roster of Signature Events,” said Pat Christenson, President of Las Vegas Events. “We look forward to working with Insomniac on the development of EDC Las Vegas.”
Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas was internationally recognized in September at the 2011 DJ Awards in Ibiza as the International Festival of the Year, where Rotella was in attendance to receive the award.
Tickets for this three-day experience go on sale at noon Pacific Time on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. Three-day General Admission tickets will start at $215, three-day VIP tickets are to start at $500 each. There will be a limited quantity of single-day tickets available at a later date.
A special pre-sale event will take place at Insomniac’s debut Halloween festival, Escape from Wonderland, on October 29, 2011, where festival attendees will have exclusive access to purchase discounted advanced tickets for EDC Las Vegas from an Insomniac ticketing booth located inside the event. “The pre-sale is a special Thank You to fans who are coming out en-masse to support Insomniac’s first-ever Halloween event,” said Rotella.

This does suck! I planned on both as well.. Maybe we get lucky though and Roo gets a few djs to fly over. But that really most likely wont happen with EDC running during the AM hours.
sucks big time..
and EDC will be way better production value than roo so it will have more pull with all djs. Roo will have to spend more money to pull a dj to a farm in tennessee. if im a dj im picking EDC over Roo for sure

I knew I couldn't go but just for sh.ts and giggles I decided to do the math of how much this would cost me. I'm looking at 700-1000 for flight and hotel. $275 for pass. After food, drinks, recreational expenses, etc this is easily a $1500 trip

This is what an insomniac orlando rep posted "Dear Orlando, EDC is in the works. We are working diligently to make this year substantially bigger than last. Because we are moving the date to a cooler time of the year we are simply not ready to announce it. Keep your shorts on "
Given what he said, Nov makes sense. "substantially bigger" sounds good. Last year was fun, but it felt like an "Ultra Lite" to me. The lineup was decent for what it was, but they could've put some more into the production and aesthetics. I hope they crank that up a bit this year. I wouldn't mind a line-up on par with last year, but with some crazy ass tents with some epic stage production and lighting

Cool, thanks.
Last year didn't have enough for me. I like a fair few of the DJs insomniac books for a lot of their events, but I guess I just had bad luck of the draw last year with which generic DJs they happened to book for Orlando. So hopefully this year I get a little luckier in that regard. I'd love to see them diversify a little bit with some more live acts, similar to Ultra, but I'm certainly not holding my breath.

Yeah.. that's not really the style of Insomniac productions. They're straight up EDM In my opinion, and for my taste, I think they booked a pretty decent lot of DJ's given their narrow scope of genres

Yeah. I guess that was what I was trying to say. EDC Orlando was on par with their other similarly sized shows, in terms of the scope/talent of DJs they booked. It just so happened that out of the pot of DJs they always book from, they happened to choose the ones I wasn't crazy about.
What! They are out of San Fran and they make some amazing interactive art pieces out of fire and metal! My first year in BRC I saw these 40 foot flames about a quarter a mile away in the night. The flames were green, orange and purple. I had found the FLG! They are by far one of my two favorite artists from Burning Man. Highly recommended! Most def, check out their art.
