Was the VIP area behind the fence and near the main gate worth the extra cash? Ammenities? I realize the short walk to the stage is great, to get back and forth to party and go see a band, anything else? was the crowd inside as fun as the tent areas with all sorts of activity and movement and food and vendors?

In short, I found it well worth it. Air-conditioned bathrooms with flush toilets and actual sinks! 24/7 shower access! Free food from noon until 9 p.m.! Shorter/nonexistent security lines! HUGE campsites! And for a shortie such as myself, the viewing bleachers for the two main stages were awesome. But read the thread for more discussion.
The showers are what convinced me. More power to anyone who can go without for four days, but in the heat that's been described I just don't think I could do it.

I agree that it was worth it. The VIP crowd was way more laid back, so it's not a 24/7 party there. If that's what you want, I'd go GA. But, you can always go out to GA and party as well, which is what we did.

more laid back because it's mostly older folks who can afford VIP. I wouldn't go VIP just because it's "way more laid back", that's silly. BUT You're not gonna see a bunch of 18 year olds running around in VIP
IMO, I can't see how showers, air conditiong, special seating, etc are worth the extra $350+, ... unless those are your priorities. They just arent mine.

There were plenty of younger adults camped around us in VIP. They were up most of the night. I check to see if they were breathing each day. You need to read some of the other threads about VIP. There are many advantages. Free food, free beer Thursday night, five minutes to centeroo, no security check getting into centeroo, 20X50 camping sites, ice delivered right to your camper each day, and so on and so on... I wouldn't do it any other way. Give it a try and you will never go back. ;D
^^Well you're right, I'm sure there are some younger people, but I'm assuming the majority are a little bit older.
Some people are trying to get me to go VIP, and I still can't even fathom spending almost $400 more for the things you listed.
Then again, I'm one of those people who saw people taking showers in GA and thought, "WHY would you waste time taking a shower??? You're missing everything!!!" ;D

I'm not trying to tell you how to spend your money, but VIP was worth every cent to me. One example that stands out. I was hungry and wanted a gyro. I walked right into centeroo past a line of people from GA waiting to get through security, a line as far as the eyes could see. I was not stopped and checked. I went straight over you the gyro stand bought my food and was back at my camp site in 13 minutes. Try that from anywhere else on that farm. You enjoy Roo anyway you want it's all good, VIP or GA
^^^Yeah. I hope we don't start an arguement of GA v. VIP. I think everyone enjoys Roo in their own way. Each side has it's highs and lows. We each sleep, eat and poop where we feel comfortable and then get on with the festival!!!

My BH and I did GA last year... it was our first year at 'roo. I think GA is definitely an experience that should be had by everyone at one point or another. That being said, this year, it's definitely VIP in some sort of camper for us. My dormant asthma problems showed up at dustaroo with a vengence and I almost didn't make it back to camp one night. For me, it's more than just the comfort factor. The lack of showers didn't really bother me all that much. We were just so exhausted from the hike back and forth to Centeroo that I missed some acts that I had really wanted to see as well as checking out the art, getting to just hang out in Centeroo to meet more folks. Really looking forward to being closer and having a door w/an AC, if only for an hour at a time to catch my breath.
I'm planning on going VIP with an RV, does anyone know if when we get these tickets do we get a vehicle pass other than the rv pass?????
A VIP package includes 2 tickets and pass for one vehicle. If you bring an rv, you get an rv upgrade. If you want another vehicle besides, you get a companion pass for that one. A motor home style rv is the same as a tow behind rv with tow vehicle. Each is considered one rv. If you tow a car behind your motor home, you need a companion pass for that vehicle. Hopefully they will get this right this year, they messed it up a bit last year.
