I wonder how long it took for the other DVDs to be released? There are a few things on the '09 that make it worth wile. '08 is real good. I am patiently waiting for '11.
This is a pipe dream, but with the absolute mountain of footage/audio they must be sitting on, I wish they'd either a) do a "best of" DVD, with footage from each of the first ten festivals, b) start up a for-pay "archive" site where you can go and download video or audio recordings of pretty much any show you wanted, or c) just start surreptitiously "leaking" these recordings. I mean, seriously. It's maddening to know that somewhere out there is a room/box/computer full of insanely crisp and clean recordings of pretty much every show ever played at Bonnaroo, and we can't hear them.
This is why we can't have nice things.
We need to get a commando team together to raid the vault Jackson Haring style.....
I would knife fight Ashley Capps a la the video for Michael Jackson's "Beat It" for a chance to get just 20 minutes in that vault. I'd gather up recordings and sprint out of there with the quickness.
Anything that was either never taped, or only exists in shoddy quality. I'd go for the Roots 2003, the Mars Volta 2005, Atmosphere 2006, Galactic 2007, that bluegrass all-stars thing 2008, Grizzly Bear 2009, maybe Baroness 2010...
I have the galactic 07, but it is a audience tape, and like you said not the best quality.

Your only option is petitioning the record labels/artists/whoever owns the rights. Bonnaroo can't go releasing everything it wants without permission from the owners. A fellow roo-er from my group inquired a couple years ago about being able to get certain shows and they pretty much said the footage will only go as far as the owner's of the music allow.

I have a tape of Baroness... Just sitting there in my Bonnaroo folder.. never seen the light of day
If I played at Bonnaroo (like that's gonna happen!) I would want to be on a DVD. The Bonnaroo DVDs have turned me on to a lot of artists that I have never really listened too much like Phish, Widespread Panic, My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists and others. I never heard of artists like Chali 2na, Broken Social Scene, Two Gallants or Tegan and Sara but now I'm a fan. I bought a lot of CDs because of the DVDs. Yeah, I said Tegan and Sara.
I wondered BEFORE going last year if there would be a DVD. Honestly, the fact that there isn't one is a immense disappointment. Why the fuck were those cameras with their big set ups taking up all that space then?! We seriously need to make a stink about this being the case with future Roos. I like to film myself, but if I knew a DVD was coming out, I'd feel so much better.

I would pay money for this. Only if it was like a netflix on demand type stylee though. I don't think it'd be worth it to me to pay for individual shows. I also don't have the memory space on my computer for a download.
But there are many times where I wish a certain song or a certain show had the ACTUAL official video posted. God it would epic.

Kinda like that old Toys "R" Us contest where you got to run through the store with a shoppin' cart and grab everythin' you could? Man I always wanted to get that opportunity. That said, I feel the same was, Juggs. And Jess, I'm all fer establishin' a covert commando team to break into the Bonnaroo vaults!

you would think they would take all the footage, photos and audio they have compiled from the years and make a "real" tenth anniversary dvd. showing a little from all the years so far, especially since they just came out the the bonnaroo book that basically shows pictures from all the past ten years. i think it could be something good if done right.
