Howdy folks - been lurking here for a bit, but with my first 'Roo coming up next year, I thought it's about time to join and say hi! Looking forward to getting to know everyone in the community here, and hopefully meeting some of ya next June! Music is my life, and I can't wait to experience the big Bonnaroo family coming together to jam to some good tunes next year; this will be my first of hopefully many more 'Roos to come! Filled out a little info below:
Name: Mike What my username represents: A made up name I came up with in grade school - been using it as a username online ever since! From: St. Louis, MO Favorite Artists/Bands: I love a wide variety of music - my favorite band is Primus, but I suppose it'd be best to list genres: 90s grunge/alt-rock of course (Nirvana, Mudhoney, PJ, Soundgarden), the Smashing Pumpkins were/are a huge influence musically and lyrically for me growing up, love Motown/doo-wop oldies (see Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers "Why Do Fools Fall In Love"...love that song!), jam (Dead, Phish, Keller, moe. String Cheese Incident, Umphrey's), 60s and 70s rock (Neil Young, CCR, Hendrix), prog rock (saw Jethro Tull on their Aqualung anniversary tour a few years back - incredible!), blues (saw Clapton for the first time in Nashville last year, checked that one off my bucket list!), big Bowie fan here, also love folk/singer-songwriter stuff like James Taylor and Joni Mitchell. Fill the rest in with more 90s music (Filter, Tool, Hole, Weezer, STP, Bush, etc.) and throw in a dash of Metallica, and that's just the tip of the iceberg! Basically I love being a music sponge. Not as up to speed on many of the newer bands coming out (digging some Fleet Foxes currently), although I do have guilty pop pleasures and love discovering new music! All Time Favorite Artist: Primus Favorite Movies: The Royal Tenenbaums, Reservoir Dogs Favorite Books: The Lord of the Rings/Hobbit/Silmarillion (Tolkien nerd here) Favorite TV Shows: Arrested Development First Concert: Primus, Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, IL - 11/7/2003 Last Concert: Primus and the Chocolate Factory, The Peabody Opera House, St. Louis, MO - 11/5/14 Bonnaroos Attended: None yet! We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

You are in the right place; just listen to the vets around here - they know some music, old & new. I've found much that I wouldn't have without Inforoo.

What do you recommend doing at Bonnaroo? Seeing the major bands, or more of the smaller ones? Is there a good balance?

Be ready to adapt your plans, whatever they are.
Don't be afraid to miss a "big name" for something that interests you.
Use Inforoo to find about the "small bands"; without this board I probably wouldn't have caught GOAT this last year. And that sh!t was tight.
Dave is right, Now Playing thread is a good place for leads.

To add onto this, whenever the lineup comes out, Bonnaroo and a couple people around here make Spotify playlists. If you have free time, it's the easiest way to run through the lineup and see what pops out at you.
